現(xiàn)在我們?cè)偃フ把鰲`塔。有寺廟的地方必有塔,通常人們常說(shuō):“救人一命,勝造七級(jí)浮屠”,浮屠是印度梵文中塔的別稱。棲靈塔于隋文帝仁壽元年(601年)初建,塔高九層,雄踞蜀岡,塔內(nèi)供奉佛骨。隋唐時(shí)期,揚(yáng)州的政治經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展很快,已成為全國(guó)第三大都會(huì),繁華程度僅次于長(zhǎng)安、洛陽(yáng)。唐代詩(shī)人李白、高適、劉長(zhǎng)卿、劉禹錫、白居易等均曾登塔賦詩(shī)贊頌。可惜在唐武宗會(huì)昌三年(843年)一代勝跡化為焦土。1980年鑒真大師塑像回?fù)P州“探親”,各界人士倡議重建棲靈塔。1988年,大明寺方丈瑞祥法師在該寺東國(guó)選址重建。瑞祥法師圓寂后,由能修法師主持棲靈塔的重建,于1993年8月27日開(kāi)機(jī)鉆探,總造價(jià)達(dá)1000萬(wàn)元以上,總建筑面積1865平方米,總高度為70米,建成后的棲靈塔氣勢(shì)雄偉,雄踞蜀岡,成為大明寺的標(biāo)志性景觀。登L塔頂,揚(yáng)州景觀盡收眼底。

大明寺位于揚(yáng)州西北郊的蜀岡之上。它既是一座佛叫廟宇,也是一方風(fēng)景名勝,由大雄寶殿、平遠(yuǎn)樓、平山堂、御園、鑒真紀(jì)念堂、棲靈塔、天下第五泉等組成。
大明寺殿內(nèi)迎面坐著釋迦牟尼等三尊大佛;背面為海島,上有觀音腳踏鰲頭的立像。殿內(nèi)東西兩側(cè)分列著十八羅漢,這里常年香煙繚繞,經(jīng)聲不斷,每年元旦前夕,常有日本客人來(lái)此撞鐘,以求幸福。
棲靈塔
西隋朝時(shí),隋文帝楊堅(jiān)篤信佛教,仁壽元年(601)他過(guò)生日,曾下詔在全國(guó)建立三十座供養(yǎng)佛舍利的塔,揚(yáng)州棲靈塔,便是其中之一,唐代大詩(shī)人李白曾登臨此塔,贊嘆道:“寶塔凌蒼蒼,登攀覽四荒”,稱贊寶塔氣勢(shì)磅礴。
白居易、劉禹錫同游該塔,兩人同齡,都是55歲的人了,但精神很好,興致很高,在揚(yáng)州玩了半個(gè)月,登棲靈塔是他們這次游覽的高潮,白居易寫詩(shī)道:“半月騰騰在廣陵,何樓何塔不同登。共憐筋力尤堪任,上到棲靈第九層”。劉禹錫寫詩(shī)道:“步步相攜不覺(jué)難,九層云外倚闌干。忽然笑語(yǔ)半天上,無(wú)數(shù)游人舉眼看”。
他們是以登上棲靈塔為自豪的,現(xiàn)在該塔修復(fù),塔身方形,總高度為70米,共9層。塔為仿唐式塔,東西南北每面四柱三間,一門二窗,平座腰檐,出檐深遠(yuǎn),屋面平坡,腰鼓形柱,直欞形窗。塔雄踞蜀崗之上,氣勢(shì)雄偉,古樸典雅,遠(yuǎn)觀似孤峰聳秀,矗入云霄;登臨則眼界頓開(kāi),胸襟曠達(dá)。
鑒真紀(jì)念堂
揚(yáng)州鑒真紀(jì)念堂是為紀(jì)念唐朝律學(xué)高僧鑒真而建。鑒真是當(dāng)時(shí)淮南地區(qū)極有名望的佛教首領(lǐng),他拜唐代律宗祖師道岸為師,受請(qǐng)東渡日本傳法,于奈良東大寺設(shè)壇傳戒,又創(chuàng)建唐招提寺,成為日本律宗初祖。鑒真是友好使者,他曾六次東渡,歷時(shí)十年,雖雙目失明而矢志不渝,在日十年不僅辛勤傳法,而且把唐代繪畫、書法、雕塑、醫(yī)藥、工藝、印刷、建筑等成就的文化帶至日本,實(shí)際上是一僧團(tuán)形式的文化代表團(tuán)。他使魏晉以來(lái)中日兩國(guó)人民互相友好的夙愿和以圓滿的實(shí)現(xiàn)。1963年鑒真圓寂1200周年,中日雙方商定,舉行隆重的紀(jì)念儀式,我佛教協(xié)會(huì)主席趙樸初和日本佛教首領(lǐng)大谷瑩潤(rùn)分別代表兩國(guó)鑒真紀(jì)念委員會(huì),商定在此建造紀(jì)念堂,1973年動(dòng)工,1974年竣工。

揚(yáng)州大明寺位于江蘇省揚(yáng)州市蜀岡中峰,唐天寶元年(742年),名僧鑒真東渡日本前,即在此傳經(jīng)授戒,該寺因以名聞天下。 大明寺及其附屬建筑,因其集佛教廟宇、文物古跡和園林風(fēng)光于一體而歷代享有盛名,是一處歷史文化內(nèi)涵十分豐富的民族文化寶藏。 千年古剎,歷經(jīng)劫難,終獲新生。隋朝仁壽元年(620xx年),皇帝楊堅(jiān)為慶賀其生日,下詔于全國(guó)建塔30座,以供養(yǎng)佛骨,該寺建“棲靈塔”,塔高九層,宏偉壯觀,被譽(yù)為“中國(guó)之尤峻特者”,故寺又稱“棲靈寺”。
唐朝鑒真法師任大明寺住持,使大明寺成為中日佛教文物關(guān)系史上的重要古剎。唐會(huì)昌三年(843年),九層棲靈塔遭大火焚毀。后經(jīng)僧人募化重建,但屢有圮廢。 北宋慶歷年間,歐陽(yáng)修任揚(yáng)州太守時(shí)建平山堂。明萬(wàn)歷年間,揚(yáng)州知府吳秀重建大明寺,崇禎十二年漕御史楊仁愿再次重修。清康乾盛世,大明寺擴(kuò)建為揚(yáng)州八大名剎之首。清乾隆三十年(1765年),乾隆巡游揚(yáng)州,改題“法凈寺”。然而咸豐三年(1853年),寺廟又毀于太平軍兵燹。此后,大明寺幾經(jīng)修建,規(guī)模漸大。現(xiàn) 寺為清同治年間兩準(zhǔn)鹽運(yùn)使方浚頤建。
1949年后以后,人民政府認(rèn)真貫徹落實(shí)宗教信仰自由政策,多次整修擴(kuò)建這一南朝古剎。1958年,大明寺被列為江蘇省保護(hù)單位。 “文化大革命”時(shí)期,“紅衛(wèi)兵”以“破四舊”為名,要砸爛寺廟內(nèi)佛像。周恩來(lái)緊急電諭,命令堅(jiān)決保護(hù)大明寺古跡。地方政府及時(shí)封閉了寺廟,使古剎幸免于難。1979年,寺廟全面維修,佛像貼金,大明寺煥然一新。1980年,為迎接鑒真大師回國(guó)巡展,復(fù)名“大明寺”。

揚(yáng)州人愛(ài)喝茶。喝茶先得種茶。揚(yáng)州種茶歷史悠久。
五代毛文錫《茶譜》中稱揚(yáng)州禪智寺,隋之故宮,寺旁蜀崗有茶園,其茶甘香,味如蒙頂。(蒙頂,是四川峨嵋蒙山之頂,山頂之茶是唐珍品,白居易曾作詩(shī)云揚(yáng)子江中水,蒙山頂上茶)。當(dāng)時(shí)蜀崗茶還作為貢品進(jìn)貢,至今蜀崗有茶樹(shù)五百畝,其茶以芽尖鮮嫩,條索緊密,湯色明亮,清香濃重為宇內(nèi)稱道。揚(yáng)州不僅茶葉好,而且講究泡制,首先是水,最好的沖茶水當(dāng)為五泉水。唐代狀元張又新寫《煎茶水記》,說(shuō)唐代宗時(shí)李秀卿出任湖州刺史路經(jīng)維揚(yáng),逢陸羽,李早聞陸之大名,十分傾慕,相聚甚歡。當(dāng)他們的船泊于揚(yáng)子江邊準(zhǔn)備吃飯時(shí),李秀卿說(shuō),陸君善于別茶天下聞名,而揚(yáng)子江南零水又殊絕,難得今日二妙千載一遇,豈能錯(cuò)過(guò)?陸羽欣然應(yīng)允,于是李秀卿令謹(jǐn)慎可靠的軍士攜瓶操舟,深入揚(yáng)子江南零取水,陸羽準(zhǔn)備好茶具相候。不一會(huì),水取來(lái)了,陸羽以杓揚(yáng)其水,說(shuō):這是揚(yáng)子江中水不假,但不是南零水,而是近岸之水。軍士說(shuō)我劃船深入,而且有百人做證。陸羽不言語(yǔ),讓他端起盆,把水倒入另一盆中,倒及一半時(shí),又以杓揚(yáng)之,說(shuō)以下都是南零水了。兵士驚嚇不已,跪地請(qǐng)罪。原來(lái)他最初確實(shí)是在南零取的水,可惜近岸時(shí),舟蕩水潑了一半,于是就近以江水加滿。李秀卿和賓客都大為驚嘆,懇請(qǐng)陸羽口授天下之水的優(yōu)劣,陸羽說(shuō):揚(yáng)子江江南零水第七,惠山水第二,虎丘水第五,丹陽(yáng)水第十一,揚(yáng)州大明寺水第十二。陸羽之后的劉伯芻也是位學(xué)識(shí)淵博者,把江淮最宜于烹茶的水分為七等,揚(yáng)子江南零水第一,無(wú)錫惠山寺石水第二,蘇州虎丘寺石水第三,丹陽(yáng)縣觀音寺水第四,吳淞江水第六,淮水最下第七。揚(yáng)州蜀崗中峰大明寺水名列第五。北宋歐陽(yáng)修守?fù)P州時(shí),曾品嘗該泉水,并在井上建美泉亭,還撰《大明寺泉水記》,稱贊泉水之美。蘇東坡守?fù)P州時(shí)曾記道:大明寺塔院西廊井與下院蜀井的水,以塔院為勝。真是:從來(lái)名士能評(píng)水,自古高僧愛(ài)斗茶。過(guò)去此處一直有塔井和下院井之說(shuō),明代大明寺僧滄溟曾掘地得井,嘉靖中葉,巡鹽御史徐九皋書第五泉三字,青石紅字,字形豐腴壯麗,人稱此為下院井。水島上一井,是乾隆二年汪應(yīng)庚開(kāi)鑿山池種蓮花而得,并于井上建環(huán)亭,著名書法家,吏部王澍書天下第五泉。

大明寺位于揚(yáng)州瘦西湖西北角的蜀岡中峰上,因始建于南朝宋孝武帝大明年間(公元457-464年)而得名,現(xiàn)在看到的寺是清同治年間建的。唐代名僧鑒真東渡日本前,即在大明寺傳經(jīng)授戒,該寺因此出名。
整個(gè)大明寺分三個(gè)部分,中部是主體寺廟建筑,東部是棲靈塔,西部是園林式的后花園——西園。按中部-東部-西部的順序即可游覽全大明寺。
沿著舒緩的臺(tái)階爬上山——山不高,海拔才28米,即來(lái)到大明寺的正門。山路兩邊有很多出售香火的小販,不要買,外面的香是不準(zhǔn)帶入寺內(nèi)的。請(qǐng)香在寺內(nèi),60元起,比較貴,你可以不燒香只拜一拜。
景區(qū)中部的主體寺廟建筑沿南北走向分三路。中軸線上從南到北依次是牌樓、同時(shí)扮演著天王殿角色的山門、大雄寶殿。西路上主要看歐陽(yáng)修,南邊是歐陽(yáng)修任揚(yáng)州太守時(shí)建的平山堂,后來(lái)蘇東坡任揚(yáng)州太守時(shí),為紀(jì)念歐陽(yáng)修在平山堂后建造了谷林堂,北邊是歐陽(yáng)祠。東路南邊是方丈室平遠(yuǎn)樓,北邊是鑒真紀(jì)念堂,鑒真紀(jì)念堂東還有藏經(jīng)樓。
其中鑒真紀(jì)念堂是大明寺最重要的建筑。鑒真曾六次東渡,為日本帶去了中國(guó)的佛教與文化,在日本奈良主持建造唐招提寺并最終圓寂于此寺,鑒真紀(jì)念堂于20世紀(jì)6、70年代建造時(shí)即模仿唐招提寺的樣子。紀(jì)念堂前碑亭里立著刻有郭沫若題寫的“唐鑒真大和尚紀(jì)念碑”漢白玉碑。院子的正當(dāng)中有一個(gè)石燈籠,為日本唐招提寺長(zhǎng)老所送,與唐招提寺中的另一個(gè)石燈籠是一對(duì)。紀(jì)念堂內(nèi)供奉著楠木做的鑒真坐像,仿唐招提寺里鑒真像,是他圓寂時(shí)的模樣。紀(jì)念堂對(duì)面原來(lái)的晴空閣現(xiàn)為鑒真史料館,可以從圖文介紹中了解到鑒真的事跡。
景區(qū)東部的棲靈塔,原是隋朝皇帝楊堅(jiān)為慶賀生日而建,現(xiàn)在看到的塔是按照隋朝的塔復(fù)原重建的。塔高9層,里面供奉著舍利子和一尊楠木佛塔。爬到塔頂則可俯看整個(gè)大明寺,遠(yuǎn)眺瘦西湖與揚(yáng)州城景色。棲靈塔的東、西兩側(cè)分別為鐘樓和鼓樓,塔北的臥佛殿能看到來(lái)自緬甸的玉佛。
景區(qū)西部的后花園西園,因與乾隆下江南有關(guān),又叫御園,園中和所有江南園林一樣,假山、亭臺(tái)樓閣林立,正中一片湖水是放生池。湖東有乾隆御碑亭,立著三塊乾隆御碑。湖中有天下第五泉,這個(gè)“第五”是唐代《煎茶水記》的作者張又新評(píng)的。乾隆御碑往南走一點(diǎn),即能看到“第五泉”石碑和一口古井。

大明寺地處城北蜀岡中峰,它以悠久歷史和優(yōu)美環(huán)境,依山面水,享有“淮東*勝境”的盛名。眾多的文物古跡,迷人的山水景觀,是集佛教廟宇、文物古跡和園林風(fēng)光于一體的游覽勝地,古往今來(lái)高僧輩出,君王賢圣,騷人墨客,國(guó)內(nèi)外風(fēng)雅名流,曾云集于此,游覽觀光者無(wú)不流連忘返,虔誠(chéng)祈求者,無(wú)不吉祥如意,福壽無(wú)量。大明寺初建于南朝宋大明年間(457~464年),故稱“大明寺”。隋建“棲靈塔”,故“大明寺”又稱“棲靈寺”;又因大明寺在隋宮、唐城之西,亦稱“西寺”。
棲靈塔因皇帝詔令存放釋祖之圣靈,使大明寺更具盛名,有棲靈寺之稱。唐代著名詩(shī)人李白、高適、劉長(zhǎng)卿、劉禹錫、白居易等均登臨棲靈塔賦詩(shī)贊頌。劉禹錫與白居易于寶歷二年(820xx年)二人同游揚(yáng)州,賦詩(shī)《同樂(lè)天登棲靈寺塔》,內(nèi)容是“步步相攜不覺(jué)難,九層云外倚欄干;忽聞笑語(yǔ)半天上,無(wú)數(shù)游人舉眼看”。可見(jiàn)當(dāng)年詩(shī)人對(duì)棲靈塔的贊譽(yù)和游人之多。可惜在唐武宗會(huì)昌三年(843年)一代勝跡化為焦土,后來(lái)觀光者無(wú)不感慨嘆息。 棲靈塔塔身方形,九級(jí)佛塔置于2.50米高的承臺(tái)之上,塔下設(shè)地宮,主體結(jié)構(gòu)為鋼筋混凝土,內(nèi)部木結(jié)構(gòu)樓閣式,總建筑面積1865平方米。風(fēng)格仿唐,東西南北每面四柱三間,一門兩窗,平座與屋檐由斗拱支撐。
塔高各層不一,總高度為70米。塔底層供奉四尊玉佛,面朝四方。這是緬甸仰光市市長(zhǎng)吳哥禮于1996年贈(zèng)送的,同時(shí)贈(zèng)送的還有一尊高2.2米、長(zhǎng)5.7米、重18口屯的臥佛,供奉在臥佛殿內(nèi)。九層寶塔內(nèi)繪制系列壁畫《善財(cái)童子五十三參》。組畫體現(xiàn)尊師重教、學(xué)而不厭,誨人不倦的精神,引導(dǎo)人們追求真、善、美。這是揚(yáng)州畫師李賴賢先生的作品。該塔設(shè)計(jì)氣勢(shì)雄偉,雄踞蜀岡,一年四季,特別是秋高氣爽,游客登塔絡(luò)繹不絕,揚(yáng)州全城景觀盡收眼底。 唐時(shí),棲靈塔毀于雷火,宋代重建,不久又廢圮。于后,寺名亦由棲靈寺復(fù)名大明寺。至清代(1765年),乾隆皇帝南巡,改名為“法凈寺”。1980年鑒真和尚塑像從日本到中國(guó)展出,稱之為“回國(guó)探親”乃恢復(fù)大明寺原名。
與棲靈塔北臺(tái)階相接的甬道直通臥佛殿。臥佛殿為單檐殿廡式建筑,翹角飛檐,氣勢(shì)雄偉。臥佛殿建在高高的臺(tái)基上,檐下正中處高懸“臥佛殿”金字匾,出自中國(guó)佛教協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)長(zhǎng)趙樸初手書。
在以大雄寶殿為主體的南北中軸線的偏東位置上,也形成了一個(gè)南北中軸線的建筑群體,它就是以鑒真紀(jì)念堂正殿作為主體建筑的一個(gè)群體,設(shè)計(jì)精妙,構(gòu)制完美,堪稱近今建筑的精品。
平山堂位于大明寺大雄寶殿西側(cè)的“仙人舊館”內(nèi),為北宋文學(xué)家歐陽(yáng)修在揚(yáng)州任太守時(shí)建,由平山堂、谷林堂、歐陽(yáng)祠三部分構(gòu)成,由南至北依次排列。今堂內(nèi)還掛有“風(fēng)流宛在”、“坐花載月”的匾額,堂北檐掛林肇元題“遠(yuǎn)山來(lái)與此堂平”匾額。游人至此,思古之情油然而生。

紀(jì)念堂由我國(guó)著名建筑專家梁思成先生設(shè)計(jì),他接受任務(wù)后專程赴日,參觀奈良唐招提寺和日本其他一些古建筑,回國(guó)后,又對(duì)我唐代廟宇建造風(fēng)格進(jìn)行研究,精心設(shè)計(jì)這座紀(jì)念堂,體現(xiàn)了1963年中日兩國(guó)商定的精神:不僅從意義上,而且建筑物本身也要成為中日友好的象征。紀(jì)念堂分為兩組,一組為四松堂構(gòu)成的清式四合院,南為紀(jì)念館,北為門廳,由游廊周接,天井內(nèi)有四棵古松,廊懸云板、木魚(yú),精舍巧建,清幽雅潔。另一組為仿唐式四合院,由紀(jì)念碑亭、紀(jì)念堂,再由超手游廊將兩建筑周接,園內(nèi)植佳蘭芳卉,其中櫻花為1980年鑒真大師像回故里探親時(shí),日本奈良唐招提寺森本孝順長(zhǎng)老所贈(zèng)。這兩組紀(jì)念堂一為清式,一為唐式,分之為二,但同處一條中軸線上,又合之為一。

紀(jì)念碑是梁思成一夜之間設(shè)計(jì)而成的,他設(shè)計(jì)成功后,高興地告訴陳從周教授,說(shuō)是我國(guó)傳統(tǒng)的紀(jì)念碑以豎碑為多,碑面光滑,天花飾邊框,而鑒真紀(jì)念碑采用橫式,周圍邊框突出,中間陰文鐫字,正面為郭沫若題唐鑒真大和尚紀(jì)念碑,背面刻趙樸初在紀(jì)念堂奠基典禮上寫的文章。這就打破傳統(tǒng)格局,在傳統(tǒng)基礎(chǔ)上創(chuàng)新,有了時(shí)代感。底座的花飾采用蓮花座作底,蓮花座托碑,因蓮花獨(dú)具神圣,出污泥而不染,濯清漣而不妖,中空外直,不枝不蔓,且蓮的絲長(zhǎng)(思長(zhǎng)),象征佛教思想天下眾生,所以蓮花一直成為佛教的象征。蓮花座之上有卷葉草為主題的紋樣花飾,原來(lái)梁思成在快設(shè)計(jì)完畢時(shí)感到唐這個(gè)字不好體現(xiàn),陳從周立刻提議用該草為紋飾,因其是唐朝特有的草,以象征鑒真生活的年代。正堂完全仿照日本招提寺主體建筑金堂樣式,只是型制由七楹變?yōu)槲彘海鹛檬氰b真當(dāng)年親自設(shè)計(jì),保持了中國(guó)盛唐的建筑風(fēng)格,又揉和了日本當(dāng)時(shí)建筑的特點(diǎn),現(xiàn)在紀(jì)念堂又仿照金堂,其用意當(dāng)然是體現(xiàn)中日文化互相交融的特點(diǎn)。
紀(jì)念堂座北朝南,面闊五間,進(jìn)深四間,四周高大的臺(tái)基上粗可兩人合抱的檐柱,柱為腰鼓狀,柱頭斗拱三重,線條渾圓飛動(dòng),正殿中央坐像為鑒真干漆夾像,是我市雕塑藝術(shù)家劉豫按照日本招提寺模大和尚之影而造,結(jié)跏趺坐,合閉雙目,神態(tài)安祥。殿前石燈籠是鑒真大師象回故里時(shí),現(xiàn)招提寺住持森木孝順長(zhǎng)老所贈(zèng),已經(jīng)十多年,長(zhǎng)明不滅,站在燈前,不由使我們想起郭沫若先生對(duì)鑒真的贊譽(yù):鑒真盲目航東海,一片精誠(chéng)照太清。舍己為人傳道藝,唐風(fēng)洋溢奈良城。
平山堂

棲靈塔
