　　It was a rainy day when demeng was sent to the execution ground, all persons watching around laughed at him, but demeng himself was not worried at all. The rope was hanging on his neck, and just at the critical moment, one person ran quickly through the rain shouting loudly,"please wait, I'm coming!" it was pi sia who turned back in time.

　　This was the most moving curtain in the world. demeng took no care of himself in order to help his friend realize the duty, whose kind of spirit was moved one to tears. 　　why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, i would say, so unimaginative? how can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? because, i think, it is a typical succestory. it is highly philosophical and symbolic. by implication, we see a 4-step definition of success: 1 ) a goal to be set. as represented by the beautiful princess; 2 ) challenges to be met, as represented by the three tasks; 3 ) the proceof surmounting difficulties, as represented by the ordeals the youth goes through; and 4 ) the reward of success, as represented by the happy marriage.

　　the story not only caters to everyone's inward yearning for success, but also emphasizes the inseparability of the proceand the result. the reward of succewill be much amplified if the path leading towards it is treacherous, and vice versa. if a person inherits his father's millions and leads an easy life, he is not a successful person even in material terms, because there are no difficulties involved in his achieving affluence. the term "success", to be sure. will not sit still for easy definition. but as i understand it, the true meaning of succeentails a combination of both the proceand the satisfactory result of an endeavor. to clarify my view, let me give another analogy.

　　Ladies and Gentlemen: My topic is Honesty.

　　As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon's tooth. This is a true story.

　　65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

　　In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon's mouth.

　　He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

　　When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one's error.

　　Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let's be honest people of good moral character.

She helped me to have confidence in myself. She gave me what I needed, courage, confidence, good ways to learn English and opportunities to speak English in class. So I was grateful for her. 　　its my honor to speak here and i am very glad to share my topic with all of you. today id like to talk about “my dream”. i do not just have one dream, in fact, i have three. they are: a healthy life, a happy family and to travel my great country.

　　i have always admired the long healthy life my grandparents have. they are older than 80 years of age and they are still alive and kicking! how do they do that!? my grandparents plant vegetables and grow rice themselves; even in their old age they still make food for themselves! i guess that is why they can remain healthy. more importantly they remain humble and never ask for too much from life. perhaps that makes them common, but they live a happy life. my grandmother once told me this:” i do not want to live long, only long enough for some grand children to be running around in my house”. i want to live a long, healthy and happy life just as they have.

　　since my graduation from primary school, until now, every time on my birthday i make the same wish. i wish my parents will not fight anymore. i am not complaining that they gave me a bad childhood, they just fight so much! i am unhappy but that does not mean they do not love me. they do! they love me with all their heart. i love my parents also; i want them to live a happy life as well.

　　i want to travel this great country of ours. i want to see the beauty of our country. i want to see the miracles that made this country great! i want to go from the east to west, from the north all the way down to the south! i have a dream, that one day i can travel and see my country with my family and friends! if that is not possible, seeing my country on my own is good enough also. if i can fulfill all three of my dreams in life, then god can take me away. i would be happy, and l would have lived a full and prosperous life.
