特殊疑問詞在句中起引導作用，主要用來詢問人或物、時間、地點、原因、數(shù)量等,下面列舉一下特殊疑問詞的功能：
1.what—詢問“什么,何物，何事”
2.what time—詢問“幾點”
3.when—詢問“什么時候”,4.where—詢問“何地,在哪里”
5.who—詢問“誰” 6.whose—詢問“誰的”
7.why—詢問“為什么”
8.how old—提問“年齡多大”
9.how many—提問“可數(shù)名詞的數(shù)量”
10.how much—提問“不可數(shù)名詞的數(shù)量或價錢”
11.how often—提問“做某事的頻率”
12.how long—提問“時間多長或某物體的長度”
注意：特殊疑問句不能用yes 或no 來回答，而應根據(jù)實際情況來回答。例如：
1.—how old are you?
你多大了？
—i'm twelve years old.
我十二歲了。
2.—how many people are there in your family?
— there are four.
注意：有些疑問詞作主語時，語序不變。如：who comes from america?
