9. there is no one nearby. 附近沒有人。
no one沒有人，one在這里用來代指人，one也可以用來指物。例如：
i’d like a dress. can you show me this one? 我想買一條裙子。你能給我看一下這一條嗎？
10. he quickly walks to the note and picks it up. 他快速地朝紙幣走過去并把錢拾起來。
1) walk to 走向……，to 為介詞，在這里具有方向性。
2) pick up“拾起”，可分開用。如果賓語是代詞，只能放在pick和up的中間；如果賓語是名詞，既可以放在兩詞之間，也可以放在up之后。例如：
pick them up 把他們撿起來 pick the apple up/ pick up the apple把蘋果撿起來
11. can’t you see the sign over there, sir? 先生，你難道沒有看到那邊的標志嗎？
這是個反問句，起目的是用來強調語氣。反問句都以否定形式作為開頭。例如：
don’t you play football? 你難道不踢足球嗎？
can’t you sing the song? 你難道不會唱這首歌嗎？新課標第一網
12. the sign on the birds’ cage is interesting. 鳥籠上的標志很有趣。
birds’ 是復數形式的名詞所有格，起單數所有格是bird’s。例如：
the teachers’ office 教師辦公室; the teacher’s pen 老師的鋼筆
