the lecture notes of sefc book2 unit14 freedom fightersreading: i have a dreamladies and gentlemen. it’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.my teaching report includes four parts:part1: to analyze the teaching material:1. there are 10 units in book2 b. this is the forth unit, unit14 freedom fighters, and today i briefly talk about the reading text of this unit. the central item is to improve the students’ reading ability. the reading passage “i have a dream” gives us a lot of information about martin luther king , jr. it describes the situation in the southern states in king’s time, especially gives us a detailed description about the struggle for equal rights of all blacks. the whites treated the blacks unfairly, which led to many nonviolent demonstrations against racial discrimination. the text shows us a hero and brave fighter. in the end, his struggle changed the whole society of the usa, and the blacks are treated with respect in the same way as the whites now. from this passage students can learn some useful words and expressions, and also they will improve their comprehensive ability. by study of this unit, the students are sure to master many useful words and expressions. meanwhile they are sure to improve their abilities to use the english language in the active, interesting and instructive activities. 2. therefore, on studying the teaching material and analyzing the regulation of students’ growing of mind , i put forward the teaching objectives according to english syllabus and new lesson standard. a. perception objective: the ss should learn and master the new words and expressions in this period. b. ability objective: the ss can read the text fluently and grasp the main ideal of it. c. emotion objective: from the text, the ss should learn the fine qualities of martin luther king, jr.3. important points: a. master the usage of some useful words and expressions. b. improve the students’ reading ability. 4. difficult points: a. how to grasp the main idea of a text or a passage. b. how to use some words and expressions freely. part2: teaching and learning method.1. fast reading and careful reading to improve the students’ reading ability. 2. pair work or group work to make every student work in class. 3. discussion to help the students grasp the detailed information.
