1.witness vt.
(1)be present at(someplace)and see it 當(dāng)場見到/目擊
did anyone witness the accident？有人親眼看到那次事故了嗎？
(2)“見證了”，時間、地點等作主語。
recent years have witnessed the collapse of the steel industry.
近年來鋼鐵業(yè)日漸衰落。

警察找到了那件謀殺案的目擊者。

在事故現(xiàn)場沒有證人。
witness 還可表示“作證”“證明”，常用“witness to sth./doing sth.”

2.sort out
(1)分類，整理
i am just sorting out the papers that can be thrown away.
