一、 單元分析（unit analysis）
（一） 單元地位（unit position）
1. 本單元圍繞“文學”這一主題，是高二年級第二學unit 7 “enjoying the classics”的延續，使名著更進一步走近中學生的視野。教師在詳解課文之余可通過著名作家生平介紹，小說語言風格特點賞析和讀者個人體會等多種形式引導學生在閱讀過程中領略經典文學作品的魅力。
2. 圍繞本課主題“短篇小說”，學生學習如何著手閱讀小說，能根據問題提示搜尋相關信息，抓住人物性格特點，概括小說主題，復述小說主要情節，并在此基礎上，從主人公，旁白，作者和其他角色的角度來敘述故事。
3. 本課語法點繼續module one的虛擬語氣學習，主要是虛擬語氣中should+動詞原形的用法，具體要求掌握重要動詞suggest, insist, demand, etc. 的虛擬用法。
4. 教師可圍繞“短篇小說”這一主題，設計活動讓學生進行小組討論，如：以“my favorite short stories”為題。并要求學生在討論過程中練習使用禮貌打斷別人說話的用語。
（二）單元目標（unit target）
1. 能讓學生欣賞以簡寫的或原版的形式出現的英語簡單故事。
2. 進一步學習虛擬語氣語法現象，掌握重要動詞suggest, insist, demand, etc.等的虛擬用法。
3. 能區分suggest, insist不同含義下的用法。
4. 能從小說三要素的角度賞析英文原版或簡寫版短篇小說，并能運用不同人稱轉述，復述主要故事情節。
（三）單元重點（unit points）

3 語法點：
本課出現了賓語從句中的虛擬語氣should+動詞原形的用法。主要是動詞suggest, insist, demand的虛擬用法，應作為本課的教學重點。
