t:. many people devoted themselves to this. some were put into prison and some even lost their lives. look at the two pictures and read the notes about them. then have a discussion in groups of four. try to explain why they are great men and in which way struggle was an important part in the lives of these men.

just now, we talked about two great men, and now we will talk about two other famous people—john brown and harriet tub man. please turn to page 26 and read the notes about them. work in groups of three. discuss the lives of them and talk about the reason why certain things happened and how they changed history. the useful expressions will be helpful . (write the following on the black¬board and allow the students enough time to practise their dialogues. finally ask a pair to act out their dialogue.)
