一、單元分析 (unit analysis)
(一) 單元地位 (unit position)
本單元課文是一篇打星號的文章，教師可根據自己具體的教學情況，或做泛讀材料處理，或做精讀文章進行教學。
本單元課文介紹了人類至今為止對火星所進行的探索。聽力是關于流星，說話訓練是關于對美國宇航局的科學家的采訪，補充閱讀關于日（月）食。通過對這些內容的學習，學生既增加宇宙方面的知識，包括詞匯量等，又可增加學生探索太空的興趣。
圍繞本課主題“宇宙探索”，可以鼓勵學生分小組收集我國“神七”探索宇宙、實現中國人太空漫步的有關資料，并在班內進行介紹。
本單元的語法是復習名詞性從句。教師在句型操練的基礎上，有必要重點指出幾個易錯易混淆的知識點，如：名詞性從句的引導詞的選擇；定語從句與同位語從句、賓語從句與同位語從句的區別等等。

(二) 單元目標 (unit target)
1. 了解人類對宇宙所進行的探索，學習和掌握天文方面的一些詞匯及知識。
2. 能用所學的詞匯等對航空航天探索進行描述和談論天文知識。
3. 復習名詞性從句，弄清各名詞從句性并能熟練運用。

3.  語法點：
名詞性從句的復習。
the fact that he passed the exam made us happy. (同位語從句)
that he passed the exam made us happy. (主語從句)
it is a fact that he passed the exam . (主語從句)
he learned that he had passed the exam. (賓語從句)
the fact is that he passed the exam. (表語從句)

1  reading 作為這一主題的引入，教師可以利用“神7”的圖片，讓學生回憶曾經學過的有關“宇宙”的詞匯，又可引出一些新的詞匯，課文中的新詞可以在這個環節上初步讓學生有所認識。
再此基礎上，閱讀并分析課文，使學生對的人類所進行的宇宙探索有更深刻、更全面的了解。
