1.both在句中的位置
1)和謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞連用時(shí),both應(yīng)放在連系動(dòng)詞be,助動(dòng)詞be,will,shall,情態(tài)動(dòng)詞must,can
等的后面;行為動(dòng)詞的前面。如:
My parents are both doctors. 我的父母都是醫(yī)生.
The two brothers both work very hard. 這兩兄弟學(xué)習(xí)都很努力.
2)both 可直接修飾名詞作定語(yǔ)(如:both students). 但如果名詞前有其他限定詞,如
the,these,my,two等,則應(yīng)放在這些詞前面,不能放在其后,也可以用both of 加上這些詞.
如:我們可以說(shuō)both (of) the books, both (of) his hands等.
Both of my parents work in a hospital. 我父母都在醫(yī)院工作.
3)both和代詞連用時(shí),應(yīng)說(shuō)they both (作主語(yǔ))both of them (作主語(yǔ)或賓語(yǔ)),them both (做
賓語(yǔ))等形式.
We must thank both of you. =We must thank you both.
我們應(yīng)該感謝你們倆.
2.What about/How about…?
1)用于詢問(wèn)對(duì)方或第三者與情景有關(guān)的各種情況.如:
I\'m going to the cinema this evening. What about you?
今晚我打算去看電影,你呢?
2)用于向?qū)Ψ教岢鲆粋(gè)建議,或征求對(duì)方的意見(jiàn),后接名詞或動(dòng)詞-ing形式.如:
What about a cup of tea? 來(lái)杯茶好嗎?
What about going for a walk after supper? 晚飯后出去散散步好嗎?
注:用于以上兩種意義時(shí),What about…=How about…
3.Oh,that\'s the bell. Everyone is going into class.
That\'s the bell. =There goes the bell. 鈴響了.
That\'s the bell (for break). Let\'s go out for a walk.
(下課)鈴響了,我們出去走走吧.
go into/to class表示 “進(jìn)課堂”,class前不能帶冠詞the,這是因?yàn)閏lass指的是有教師和學(xué)
生共同參與的教與學(xué)的課堂,強(qiáng)調(diào)的是學(xué)習(xí)氛圍.再如:
in class 在課上
before class 課前
after class 課后
類似的還有:
go to school 去上學(xué) go to hospital 去醫(yī)院看病
be in school 在上學(xué)(還沒(méi)工作) go to town 進(jìn)城
be at school 在學(xué)校(沒(méi)放學(xué)) be in town 在城里
go to bed 去睡覺(jué) go to prison 去坐牢
be in bed 臥病在床 be in prison 在坐牢
be in hospital 在住院 be back from work 下班
go to work 上班 be at work 在工作
上述這些詞組中名詞前都不帶定冠詞the,強(qiáng)調(diào)其性質(zhì)以及該性質(zhì)與有關(guān)的人的關(guān)系.
但如果不具有這種關(guān)系,該名詞前就應(yīng)帶the或其他限定詞.如:
His father went to the (his)school to see him yesterday.
他父親昨天去學(xué)校看望了他.
His wife goes to the prison to see him once a month.
他妻子每月去監(jiān)獄看望他一次.
4.We\'d better go now. 我們還是現(xiàn)在走吧.
had better “還是……的好”,主語(yǔ)應(yīng)是代詞, 后面接動(dòng)詞原形.如:
You\'d better go and ask the teacher. 你最好去問(wèn)問(wèn)老師.
I\'d better start right now. 我最好馬上動(dòng)身.
had better do 的否定形式是had better not do,注意not的位置.
He\'d better not go there alone. 他最好不要一個(gè)人走.
You\'d better not be late again. 你最好不要再遲到.
在口語(yǔ)中,有時(shí)侯可省去主語(yǔ)和had,這時(shí)被建議的可能是對(duì)方(你或你們),也可能是包
括說(shuō)話人在內(nèi)的一群人(我們).如:
Better come tomorrow. =You\'d better come tomorrow.
最好明天來(lái).
Better not tell him about it. =You\'d/We\'d better not tell him about it.
這件事最好不要告訴他.
5.節(jié)日與祝愿
表示節(jié)日的專有名詞前不帶冠詞; 表示人的名詞應(yīng)用復(fù)數(shù),并用所有格的形式表示這
些人的節(jié)日.如:
Teachers\' Day Children\'s Day Women\'s Day
Army Day (建軍節(jié)) National Day (國(guó)慶節(jié)) New Year\'s Day (元旦)
向某人表示節(jié)日最良好的祝愿可用下列表達(dá)方式:
1)Happy New Year (to you )! (祝您)新年快樂(lè)!
2)Best wishes to you for Teachers\' Day! 向您致以教師節(jié)最良好的祝愿!
Best wishes to you ! 向您致以最良好的祝愿!
3)We wish you good luck in the coming English exam.
祝您在即將到來(lái)的英語(yǔ)考試中走運(yùn).
4)I hope (that) you (will) enjoy your visit here.
我希望你在這兒訪問(wèn)愉快.
5)We hope you have a happy year in our class.
我們希望你在我們班上愉快地度過(guò)一年.
6.find 和find out
find “找到”, “認(rèn)為”, “覺(jué)得”,如:
I looked for my watch this morning but didn\'t find it.
今天上午我找手表但沒(méi)找到.
I find (=think,feel) the story very interesting.
我覺(jué)得這個(gè)故事很有趣.
find out著重表示通過(guò)思考,分析,理解,詢問(wèn),”弄清楚”, “查明”一件事情,后面可接名詞
或賓語(yǔ)從句.
Please find out who broke the window. 請(qǐng)查明誰(shuí)把窗子打破的.
I\'ll go and find (out) when they are coming. 我去查一下他們什么時(shí)候來(lái).
7.關(guān)于people 的幾個(gè)問(wèn)題
作 “人” 解時(shí),只能看作可數(shù)名詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式,如:
one or two people 一兩個(gè)人
many people 許多人
There are four people in my family. 我家有四個(gè)人.
People from other countries enjoy their visit in Beijing.
來(lái)自其他國(guó)家的人喜歡在北京游覽.
1)“家人”
Please come and meet my people. 請(qǐng)來(lái)見(jiàn)見(jiàn)我的家人.
2)作 “人民”解時(shí),前面總有定冠詞the,表示全體.
We work and study for the people. 我們?yōu)槿嗣穸ぷ鲗W(xué)習(xí).
The Chinese people are working hard. 中國(guó)人民正在努力奮斗.
3)作 “民族”解時(shí),是可數(shù)名詞,如:
a (one) people 一個(gè)民族
a country of many peoples 一個(gè)多民族的國(guó)家
The Chinese people are /is a hard-working people.
中國(guó)人民/中華民族是一個(gè)勤勞的民族.
8.Excuse me 和 I\'m sorry.
向某人請(qǐng)教或提出詢問(wèn)請(qǐng)求時(shí),說(shuō)Excuse me.由于某種失誤或消極情況而向?qū)Ψ奖硎?br> 歉意時(shí)常說(shuō)I\'m sorry.
