例1、i study for a test by working with friends 我通過和朋友一起學習來準備考試"by+n\doing\pron(代詞）表示通過手段、方式或方法做…可以用來回答how引導的特殊疑問句。by的用法大致有一下幾種：
（1）、表位置：“在……旁邊；靠近……”he sits by the window. (他坐在窗戶旁邊)
（2）、表時間“到……為止，不遲于……”he will come back by noon. (他中午之前就回來)
（3）、表“乘……，通過……” he goes to school by subway.
（4）、與反身代詞連用表示“單獨，獨自”
