t: do you know how to use them now?
rule: they can be used to introduce a longer action that started before a shorter action. “as” can also be used to join two short actions that happen at the same time, but “while” can’t.

iv. using comparatives and superlatives of adverbs。
1. revision:
1) do you know what millie thinks of the programmes she watched on saturday night? please finish her words with proper forms of the given words.
2) in millie’s words, she used the comparative and superlative of adjectives. do you still remember how to use them? fill in the blanks with the proper forms of the given adjectives.
2. presentation.
look at some pictures and describe them with comparatives and superlatives of adv.

dolphin c swims the fastest (of the three).
3. work out the rule:
1) we can form comparative and superlative adverbs in the same way as we do for comparative and superlative adjectives.
2) read the following adverbs, then tell the rules.
