動詞be就是我們所學過的am, is ,are的動詞原形。如何使用這三種形式主要取決于主語。當主語是第一人稱i（我）時，用am, 縮寫為i’m；主語是第二人稱you（你）或復數時，用are, 縮寫為you’re，主語是第三人稱it/she/he（它/她/他）或名詞及代詞的單數時，用is, 縮寫為it’s/she’s/he’s。如：

(1) hello與hi可以互換，都表示“喂，你好”。但hi比hello用得更多，顯得更隨和親近，它尤被美國年輕人所使用。但打電話時常用hello而少用hi。熟人、朋友見面時，彼此問候僅僅說聲hi！就可以了。用hello時，不能“hello, hello, hello”這樣反復使用。
（2）要注意hello/hi一般不用于與師長、上級、年長者以及有體面的人打招呼，以免顯得對長輩不夠尊重。

① 表示所有關系的代詞叫物主代詞，本課所介紹的是形容詞性物主代詞，它們一般放在所修飾名詞的前面，同時它們也有人稱和數的變化。形容詞性物主代詞的前后是不出現冠詞的，這是在書寫句子時最容易犯的錯誤。如：my father, his desk, our room, their names. your aunt等。
② 形容詞性物主代詞的用法
形容詞性物主代詞起形容詞作用，在句中只能作定語，也就是說它后面必須跟一個名詞。如：
this is my bike. 這是我的自行車。
miss gao is our english teacher. 高小姐是我們的英語老師。
i don’t know her name. 我不知道她的名字。

精析 (1)you與your雖然只有一個字母之差，但意義不同，在句中的作用也不相同。you意為“你、你們”，作主語；而your表示“你的、你們的”，后面必須再接一個名詞。(2)漢語中的“名”用英文表示時須連寫，不能分開，只要第一個字母大寫即可。(3)英語中稱呼語和問候語連用時，常將稱呼語放在問候語之后，而在漢語中，習慣先說稱呼語。

我是第一次接觸新目標英語，碰到的困難比我想象的要難。在英語課上學生聽的也很認真，大部分學生也能張開口說話。但是他們這樣的對話是教師問，學生答。如果讓學生編對話或一問一答，這樣的情況就不妙。通常是學生會答而不會問。課堂上沒有自己想象中的那般熱烈，好象是你在唱“獨角戲”。
思考的問題
1. 如何創設情景讓學生將已學的知識轉化為能力，改變教師引出問句，學生答，然后由學生問與答。讓學生自己“找到”問句。
2. 讓學生學會觀察，會做總結。
案例描述
這節課主要是講first name and last name以及中西文化在名字上的差異。習慣的做法是先讓學生知道，在西方是名在前，姓在后，然后告訴學生，我們是姓在前，名在后。在老教材中，這一節課是在初二課本。但是我現在面對的初一的學生，按部就班的做，學生會理解嗎?這節課我是這樣設計的，由學生們自己的名字引出first name 和last name,然后通過觀察發現中西文化在名字上的差異。
