module 1 unit 3 the dragon boat festival( page 12-page 13) teaching aims1. to learn how to use “would you like some…?”to offer somebody food and drinks, and how to give correct answers.2. to learn some new words and expression_r_rs: really, would rather ,chinese pudding, christmas pudding3. to let students know what’s new about the dragon boat festival in this class.emotional aims:1. to let students know some chinese traditional customs and arouse their love our motherland. 2. to be more cooperative with each other.language focus:1. using modals to make an offer e.g. would you like a piece of rice dumpling?2. using formulaic expression_r_rs to accept offers e.g. yes, please. i really like rice dumpings.3. using formulaic expression_r_rs to decline offers e.g. no, thanks. i don’t like rice dumplings very much.4. using modals to indicate preferences e.g. i’d tather have a piece of pizza.materials:l students’ book 7a page 12-13l cassette 7a and a cassette playerl some objectsl a multi-media computer, a tape recorder.procedure: step1 pre-stask preparation1.show some pictures to the students and review some new words they have learned last class:emperor, battle, celebrate , lose(lost, lost), poem, poet, sad.2. ask the students to translate the phrases into english according to the chinese meaning. 1). 一條建議a piece of advice2). 向皇帝提建議give advice to the emperor 3). 接受某人的建議take one’s advice4). 擅長于做某事be good at doing sth. 5). 舉行龍舟賽have dragon boat races6). 失業 lose one’s job3. ask the students:how much do you know about qu-yuan? encourage them to fill in the blanks about qu-yuan. then ask the students: why did qu-yuan jump into the river? help them answer: because the new emperor didn’t take his advice and the country lost a battle, he was very sad. remove the words that they have filled , ask the students to retell something about qu-yuan. 4. show the pictures about the food to the students and review the old words: pancakes, biscuits/cookies, mooncakes, pizza, hamburger, sandwich. lead in christmas pudding and chinese pudding.write the new words on the blackboard and teach the new words.5. show some fruit to the students and lead in the new words:really, rather,would rather do sth.and the structures:a: would you like …?b: yes, please. i really like …c: no, thanks. i don’t like …very much. i would rather have…step2 while-task1.
