當序數詞（third）修飾形容詞最高級longest時，其前一定要加定冠詞。如：

15. capital名詞，“首都”之意。如：
beijing is the capital of china. 北京是中國的首都。
另外，capital還有以下含義：
（1）省會。如：
jinan is the capital of shandong province. 濟南是山東省的省會。
（2）大寫字母。如：
please write in capitals. 請用大寫字母寫。
（3）資本，金錢。如：
they have no capital to set up a new shop.
他們沒有開辦新商店的本錢。

（1）on the coast在海岸線上。如：

辨析：bank，coast與shore
（1）bank指河岸。如：
there are many trees on both banks of the river. 河兩岸有許多樹。
（2）coast指海岸線，臨海的整個區域。如：
a big city lies on the coast of the atlantic ocean. 大西洋沿岸有一個大城市。
（3）shore指海岸；湖濱。如：
we like playing on the shore of the sea. 我們喜歡在海濱玩耍。
