  泛讀在教材中地位

  泛讀不僅在英語教學,乃至整個英語語言的學習過程中都占有非常重要的地位。從《普通高中英語課程標準》可以看出,它要求高中英語教學和初中相比,更具有時代性、基礎性和選擇性,更加注重對學生綜合語言能力的培養。新《課標》立足于提高學生的綜合英語語言水平,提高對高中學生閱讀能力的要求,并提出大力開展英語泛讀教學,選修課程等要求。通過一系列的泛讀,對學生進行大量的語言輸入,重點培養學生的閱讀技能,進而提高學生綜合運用語言的能力,也即語言輸出的能力。

  英語作為我們的一門外國語言,單詞,語法,固然要背,但是,在我們的英語教學中,將現成的英語文章作為比較真實的語境,讓學生先去聽,去感受,去體會作者話語中詞匯表達的功能、作者要表達的意圖和態度則顯得尤為重要。

  教學內容及課時

  本課源于高二英語選修7第4單元 sharing(分享)。根據《教學大綱》本單元的重點話題是幫助弱者、志愿服務、合作共享等,通過聽、說、讀、寫等活動不僅學習有關的語言知識,還要培養學生的社會責任感。

  本節閱讀課文的標題就是“A Letter Home”,它是一封航空郵件。年輕的澳大利亞女教師Jo以志愿者身份在異國——巴布亞·新幾內亞(Papua New Guinea)的一個貧困的山村學校支教。她給國內好友(Rosemary)的回件中,用9個自然段800多字的篇幅告訴了好友該山村學校的校舍、教學以及她到一學生家做客的所見所聞。根據教學內容及學生實際情況,本次泛讀安排1.5個課時。

  這些高二學生通過高一一年的學習,已經基本掌握了英語泛讀的基本技巧,比如:預測、略讀、跳讀等。但學生的英語水平參差不齊。絕大部分學生課外沒有主動去接觸英語,沒有閱讀英文文章或看英文電影之類的習慣。但英語課堂的發言還是比較活躍的。

  教材分析   

  本單元的話題是sharing,主要涉及幫助弱者、志愿服務、合作分享等。通過聽、說、讀、寫等各種活動學習相關的語言知識,使學生了解世界上很多地方依然很落后,從而懂得同情,學會分享。了解一些志愿者工作的信息,培養學生互助合作的精神和社會責任感。結合針對短文話題的探討激發學生的國際意識,通過各種渠道力所能及地為貧困地區的孩子作出自己的貢獻。

  warming up部分是一個調查,分成三項任務:首先回顧自己曾經做過的助人為樂的好事,并采訪三位同學;然后,根據調查內容列舉班級同學所做的好事;最后討論volunteer的內涵。通過這些任務,讓學生懂得什么是“幫助”,反思自己是否樂于助人,以及怎樣做才是“志愿者”,由此為后面的短文學習做好鋪墊。

  pre-reading是reading的熱身活動。交代了閱讀文章的文體(letter)和作者(a young australian woman,jo),還根據她在png拍的10張照片提出了5個問題,回答這些問題有助于學生加深理解“志愿者活動”的意義。

  課時劃分   

  在對本單元的各部分材料進行分析、整合后,確定了以下六個重點課時:

  課時一:warming up and listening(聽力課)

  從話題內容和訓練目的來看,warming up與using language中的listening and speaking比較接近,所以將warming up與listening and speaking的第1、2、3題和workbook中的listening以及listening task整合在一起,設計成任務型“聽力課”,以訓練聽前預測的能力和學習用時間表達方式來介紹一個人的生平經歷的方法。

  課時二:speaking(口語課)

  將上一節聽力課剩下的部分listening and speaking中的第4題和workbook中與上節課聽力內容相關的talking以及speaking task整合在一起,設計成“口語課”,訓練學生用英語表達自己的觀點,并且說明這樣做的理由。

  課時三:pre-reading and reading(閱讀課)

  這篇課文是一個志愿者的一封家書,她在巴布亞新幾內亞共和國的一個小山村教書。信中詳細地描述了她所在學校的情況和她去一個學生家做客的經歷。通過這封信,學生可以了解巴布亞新幾內亞共和國各部落的生活狀況和風俗習慣,同時能夠更好地理解志愿者的工作。

  課時四:grammar(語法復習課)

  本單元的語法重點是復習限制性定語從句(restrictive attributive clause)。學生已經學過這個語法點,所以在這節課中,首先對限制性定語從句的特征、關系詞做一個簡要回顧,然后通過多種形式的練習,如填寫關系詞、造句和翻譯等,使學生逐步掌握限制性定語從句的用法。這些教學環節,如開始部分的聽句子、猜同學的游戲和結束部分的翻譯或寫作練習,都充分體現了在語境中學習語法、在語境中運用語法的教學原則。

  課時五:reading,speaking and writing task(綜合運用課)

  這節語言綜合運用課把本單元的第二篇文章和課后練習中的寫作練習組合到一起。一方面是由于這篇文章——“世界上最有用的禮物清單”,內容比較簡單,不需要用一整節課來完成;另一方面是課后練習的寫作任務——給一個被自己資助的孩子寫封信,既切合本單元幫助他人的主題,題目中又已經列出了書信的結構,書信的內容也是介紹自己的學習生活,能夠與學生的實際結合起來,學生寫起來有話可說。

  課時六:summing up and learning tip(總結復習課)

  復習課分成四個板塊,板塊一是復習課文內容和重要的詞組句型。復習課文內容可以通過根據關鍵詞組復述課文、回答問題和學生互批作文(用100詞左右寫一篇介紹部落生活和風俗的文章)等活動來完成。這篇作文是閱讀課的家庭作業,放在此處,既檢查了作業,又有助于課文的復習。板塊二是復習語言知識,主要是用翻譯、填詞以及句型轉換來復習。板塊三是總結和概括語法項目。指導學生完成表格填充、知識樹,使學生在腦海中對限制性定語從句形成一個完整的概念。板塊四是總結。討論分享的意義,讓學生對于本單元的主題有更加清晰完整的認識,并且由生活中的分享談到學習上的互相合作與分享,即learning tip的內容。

  學情分析   

  1.學生經過高中階段必修1~選修6的學習,具備了一定的閱讀技能,如查找細節信息,猜測詞義,抓住段落要點和全文大意等,在閱讀速度方面也有了較大的提高,這有助于學生較好地完成這個單元的課文閱讀。同時,在聽、說、寫等方面也有了一定的基礎。

  2.這個單元的話題是分享、幫助與合作。對于高二的學生而言,他們的價值觀人生觀已經基本形成,要想通過一個單元的學習,完全改變學生的價值觀,難度比較大,但教師可以通過本單元安排的內容,如閱讀志愿者的家書,了解一些捐助機構的工作,幫助學生認識這個世界,理解互助合作的意義,即在幫助他人的過程中實現自己的人生價值。
