14.a number of，the number of a number of“一些；若干”，和復數名詞或代詞連用，后面的動詞也用復數形式。 eg：
a number of my friends are against the plan.我的若干朋友都反對這個計劃。
the number of".……的數量(數目)”.介詞of同其后的名詞構成介詞短語，作
定語修飾the humber，當它作主語時，謂語動詞用單數。 eg：
the number of the students standing there is about twenty.站在那邊的學生數目大約是二十。
考題14 (典型例題 分)the number of people present at the meeting about one thou-sand, a large number of whom experts from abroad.

考題14點撥：答案為b。the humber of…+單數謂語動詞；a nliyllber of…+復數謂語動詞。句意為：“出席會議的人數大約一千，他們當中的若干人是來自于國外的專家。”
15.sitaation，state，gobdition situatl’on“情況；形勢；局面”，主要是指各種情況之間的相互關系及該情況與有關人士之間的關系，強調相互之間的聯系和影響。 eg：
he is in a difficult situation.他處境艱難。
the international situation國際形勢
state“狀態；狀況”，常與不定冠詞連用，只有單數形式.與介詞in搭配使用。 eg：
she is in a good state of mind.她心情不錯。
condition“狀況；環境”，指周圍環境時常用復數形式，與介詞in或under搭配使用。 eg：living conditions居住狀況/環境
he is in no condition to travei.他的健康狀況不宜旅行。

1.祈使句的基本結構有下列幾種類型：
