【句法分析】 suggest在此處意為“提出；建議”，常用搭配為suggest sth./doing...。
①she suggested traveling by bus.
她建議乘公共汽車旅行。
suggest后還可跟從句。當“建議”講時，后跟賓語從句要用虛擬語氣，即：suggest that sb.(should)do sth.，其中should可以省略；當表示“表明；暗示”講時，后跟賓語從句，不用虛擬語氣，而用陳述語氣。
suggest的名詞為suggestion，凡是與suggestion(表示“建議”)相關的從句也都要用虛擬語氣，即從句用that sb.(should)do...的形式。

＝his suggestion was that we should start at once.

②we didn’t discuss the problem until they came back.
直到他們回來我們才討論那個問題。
(2)但若主句謂語動詞是非延續性動詞，則只能用否定形式。
③his parents didn’t go to bed until he came back.
直到他回來他的父母才上床睡覺。
(3)not...until...表示“直到……才……”，常用于兩種句式：即倒裝句或強調句。
④the villagers didn’t realize how serious the pollution was until the fish in the river died out.
→not until the fish in the river died out did the villagers realize how serious the pollution was.(倒裝句)
→it was not until the fish in the river died out that the villagers realized how serious the pollution was.(強調句)
直到河里的魚都死光了之后村民們才意識到污染是多么嚴重。
