step 6: language notes
1. guess what?
guess what或you’ll never guess,用在口語當中,在告訴別人令人驚訝的事情之前常用到。如:
guess what! i’ve got a new computer.
you’ll never guess who i saw today.
2. “but what…?” 但是什么?
這里betty 說 but what…? 是在追問tony沒說完的內容。如:
—the new teacher has a good way of teaching. but… 新來的老師課講的好,不
過……
— but what…? 不過什么?
— but he’s too serious, i think. 不過他太嚴肅了,我覺得。
3. it was great to see her again. 很高興又見到她了。
句中it是形式主語,真正的主語為to see her。例如:
it’s nice of you to say so. 你這樣說太好了。
it’s very important for me to learn english well. 對我來說,學好英語太重要了。
4. what’s it like? 它怎么樣?
句中like為介詞,意思為“像……”,如:
what’s the weather like today? 今天天氣如何?
what’s your english teacher like? 你們英語老師人怎么樣?
5. let’s have a look. 讓我看一看。
let sb. do sth. 意思為“讓某人做某事”。如:
let’s go shopping, ok? 我們去購物吧,好嗎?
step 7: pronunciation and speaking
pronunciation
1. listen to and say the sentences in activity 7.
2. read the sentences in activity7 again, paying attention to the stress of the underlined words.
3. listen to the tape again and then let some students say these sentences, the other students saying out the improper pronunciation.
t: maybe everyone can find that the underlined words which are stressed are usually nouns, adjectives and verbs. now, practice saying the sentences in activity 8 and underline the words the speaker will stress.
