teaching aims and demands:
1\ to know the background of christmas.
2\ use the drills: who are they from? they are from grandpa and grandma and the single form .
3\ master the drills: whose …it it\are they? to use the words: mine\his\hers\yours…well. know the differences between my and mine\your and yours etc.
teaching aids: computer, some materials and cards.
teaching steps:
step1: revision
1\ sing a song : if you are happy.
2\ ask and answer the drills we have learned: what is the date today? when is your birthday? what would you like as a birthday present? introduce your birthday present for the children. review the words. when is christmas day? it’s on the 25th of december. what would you like as a christmas present?
step2: new teaching
1\ do you know what presents jim got on christmas day? today we will learn: unit 9 at christmas.
2\ before we watch the vcd. i will give you a question: what presents were there under the christmas tree?
3\ listen and watch once then answer the questions. let the students pick out the presents from the christmas tree.
4\ listen to the text again then match the person and the presents.
5\ point out the drills: whose … is it? it’s his. who is it from? it’s from grandpa. tell how to use the drills. teacher shows the students’ birthday present. let them try to say the drills.
6\ tell how to use the pronouns.
step 3 drill and practise
1\ show us the presents from others then act the drills: whose …is this? who is it from?
2\do some exercise of choosing the correct pronouns.
3\ read the text by themselves again. underline all the pronouns tell the rules of the words using.
4\exercise: choose a|b or c to check if they understand the text or not.
step 4 consolidation
1\ do you like christmas? let’s have a christmas party ok? before we have the party answer some questions: a\ how people greet each other on christmas day? b\ when you get the presents from others you should do what?
2\ show them an example of giving and receiving the presents.
3\ have the party and say something about the presents. use the drills in this text.
4\ homework: prepare a christmas present for your parents and friends. practise the words and drills of this lesson well.
