1、how long與when
兩者都是對時間狀語提問，how long譯為“多久，多長時間”，是對一段時間提問；
when是“什么時候”，是具體的時間狀語的提問，不能用于現在完成時。
例：___ _____ have you been at the school?你來這個學校多久了？
_______ ___ you come to this school? 你什么時候來這個學校的？
2、since與for
for+ 一段時間，構成介詞短語，表“時間段”，常用于現在完成時。表示過去已經開始，持續到現在的動作或狀態。
例：i’ve lived in china ____ ___ ____ .我在中國住了兩年了。
since連詞，引導時間狀語從句，意為“自從以來”，從句常用一般過去時，主句用完成時，有時也可用一般現在時。
例：he hasn’t been home _____ ___ ___ _.自從去年來他沒回過家。
