a. attributive adjectives 作定語時: 1).一般在名語前(前置定語) e.g. we have different problems. 2).在名詞后的情況(后置定語) a).形容詞修飾不定代詞: e.g. something/nothing/anything nice/important b). else在復合不定代詞和疑問代詞的后面: e.g. anything else? no, nothing else. what else did he tell you? who else went there besides you? c).形容詞短語: e.g. that’s a problem difficult to solve. i found a basket full of flowers outside my room. 3).多個形容詞作定語時的順序: a).與名詞關系較密切的形容詞靠近名詞: a great modernized socialist country b).描繪---大小---形狀---新舊---顏色---國籍---材料---用途 + n: a beautiful small round old brown french wooden writing table c).音節少的詞在前,音節多的詞在后: a small but beautiful toy note:enough: 作形容詞用,修飾名詞,既可在名詞前也可在名詞后 e.g. we have enough time. we have time enough. practice: a1 on page 21.
b. predicative adjectives 作表語,在聯系動詞后: e.g. the boy is clever. the shop stays open. they kept silent . 少數形容詞只能作表語(稱為表語形容詞): alive; alone; awake; asleep; well; afraid; aware; ashamed; alike.
