ask students whether they’ve ever been to a charity show.
tell them that a good charity show must have a good host.

help students to answer the question by using the sentence structure--- a host’s job is to …
encourage them to come up with as many ideas as they can.
step3 reading and answering
tell students that there was a charity show. ask them to read the text for the first time and answer the following questions:
who was the host?
what was his job? ( his job was to introduce each star.)
how did ricky feel when he was chosen to be the host? ( excited but nervous)
why did he feel nervous? ( because of the tv cameras.)
what was the result of the show? ( they had a lot of support from local businesses. )

step4 listening, reading and answering
do you want to know more about the successful charity show?
ask students to listen to the tape and read after it. then answer: what did ricky do before/in/after the show?
