hangman
students get into groups of four. pair up the group. give each group two words from one of the exercises on page 63. one group draws a hangman diagram and blanks on the board ( one blank per letter of the word). the other group guesses the letters in the word. if the group guesses a correct letter, the group at the board writes it in the correct blank. if the letter is wrong, the group at the board begins to draw a hangman: first the head, then body, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg. if the group guesses the correct word before the hangman is completed, this group wins a point. if the hangman is completed before the correct word is guessed, the point goes to the group which divided the word. the group take turns to do the guessing.

ricky and his classmates held a charity show to raise money for charity. that is to say a charity show was held by ricky and his classmates to raise money for charity. in the second sentence, we use passive voice. ask students to say something about passive voice, including meaning, structure, etc.
where did ricky and his classmates hold the show? ( at a theatre. )
what’s in a theatre? ( stage, curtain, seats, microphone, speaker, lights, exit, entrance. )
how to arrange the things at a theatre? ( show students a picture of a theatre and the pictures of equipments at the theatre as well, ask students to put the right picture on the right place while talking about them. ) x k b
where should we hang the curtain? we should hang the curtain behind the stage.= the curtain should be hung behind the stage.
what about the microphone? we must set the microphone in the middle of stage.= the microphone must be set in the middle of the stage.
in these two sentences, we use modal verb (should, must ) + be done. what other modal verbs do you know? ( can, may, ought to )
step2 finishing off part b1
ask students to use the structure to go on with the discussion.: where to arrange the seats? where to put the sign “ exit”? where to place lights / put the speaker? then ask them to tell the reasons.
