二、語法小貼士。
1. so that與so…that…的辨析
(1) so that意為“為的是…”，“以便能或使得能…”，強調目的。so that后面的從句常與情態動詞連用，引導目的狀語從句。
e.g. ① 說清楚點，好讓他們聽懂。speak clearly _______ _______ they can understand you.
② 他決定買一部照相機，以便在假期中可以照相。
he decided to buy a camera ________ ________ he could take photos during the holiday.
(2) so that還有“結果是”，“以至于”的含義，此時so that可與so…that…通用。
e.g. ③這本書太難，我看不懂。the book is _______ _______ _______ i can’t understand it.
(3) so…that…意為“如此…以至于…”，“如此…結果…”，強調由某種原因產生的結果，引導結果狀語從句。
e.g.④ 他太生氣了，以至于說不出話來。he was _____ _______ _______ he couldn’t speak.
= the book is difficult ________ ________ i can’t understand it.
2.instead of 是復合介詞，后接名詞、代詞或者相當于名詞的短語。
意為“代替”，“而不是”。
e.g. ① 你替我去赴宴好嗎？will you go to the party ________ ________ ________?
② 他去游泳了，而不是打籃球。he went swimming ______ ______ _______ basketball.
