【課文長句難點剖析】
1. have you ever dreamed of being in front of thousands of people at a concert, with everyone clapping and enjoying your singing?
譯文:你曾經夢想過在音樂會上面對成千上萬的觀眾,他們一邊欣賞你的歌,一邊為你鼓掌?
剖析:前面是句子的主干,后面是with的復合結構在句中作狀語。
the professor came in with a lot of students following. 教授走進教室,后面跟著許多學生。
with the problem solved, we all feel very happy. 問題被解決了,我們都感到非常高興。
with lily to help us, we can finish the work in an hour. 有李麗的幫助,我們能在一小時內完成這項工作。
he likes to sleep with the door open. 睡覺時,他喜歡讓門開著。
with her son away from home, she felt very lonely. 兒子離開家了,她感到非常寂寞。
with a bag on her back, the girl went home happily. 這個小女孩背著書包,高高興興地回家了。
2. the musicians of whom the band was formed played jokes on each other as well as played music.
剖析:本句中of whom the band was formed 是定語從句,還可以寫成the band of whom
was formed。as well as 用來連接played jokes on each other和played music.
譯文:組成樂隊的音樂人除了演奏音樂曲目,還經常彼此打趣逗笑。
【語法知識歸納】
“介詞 + 關系代詞”引導的定語從句
介詞加關系代詞引導的定語從句要注意以下幾點:
1.“介詞 +關系代詞”引導的定語從句時,介詞的賓語只能用which(指物)和whom(指人),即:介詞+which/whom。不能用that 和who。
this is the teacher from whom we’ve learned a lot. 這就是從他那里我們學了很多東西的老師。
great changes have taken place in the city in which we live.我們所居住的城市發生巨大的變化。
2.有時介詞也可放在從句的末尾,這時關系代詞可用which/that(指物),who/whom/that(指人),也可以省略。
the situation (which/that ) we had got into was very dangerous. 我們當時的處境很危險。
the man (whom/who/that) you were talking to just now is my english teacher. 你剛剛和他談話的那個人是我的英語老師。
3. 當定語從句中的謂語動詞短語是固定搭配,不可分割時,那動詞短語中的介詞不能前置。
this is the pen which i’m looking for. 這是我正在找的那支鋼筆。
不能寫成:this is the pen for which i’m looking.
4. 定語從句也可由“名詞/代詞/數詞+介詞+which/whom”引出。
that old man has two sons, one of whom is a doctor. 那個老人有兩個兒子,其中一個是醫生。
the house, the windows of which ( = whose windows = of which the windows) were damaged, has now been repaired. 窗子遭破壞的那棟房子現在已經修好了。
5. 引導定語從句的關系副詞(when, where, why) 可以用“介詞+關系代詞”代替。
i’ll never forget the day when i joined the party. (when= on which).我永遠不會忘記入黨的日子。
the factory where my father works is in the east of the city. (where = in which). 父親工作的那家工廠在城東。
