    (3)在定語從句中,that是關系代詞，代替先行詞在從句中充當主語、賓語或表語，也就是說關系代詞that前必須有先行詞；而what在名詞性從句中單獨作主語、表語和賓語其含義相當于something that，all that或everything that。
    e.g.that is all(that)i want to tell you.
    that is what i want to tell you.
    那就是我想告訴你的。
    (4)在“it is(was)+被強調部分+that+其余部分”強調句中,that本身不作句子成分，無論強調主語、賓語和狀語都用that。(強調主語或賓語是“人”時,也可用who或whom)
    e.g.it is from the early 1990s that sci-entists started to develop new techniques.
    科學家們是20世紀90年代初開始發展新技術的。
    it is the people,not things that are deci-sive.
    決定的因素是人而不是物。

    2.單句改錯
    (1)what they shall complete the build-ing in three months is impossible.
    答案：what改為that。因that和what都可用來引導名詞性從句，但that不能在從句中作任何成分，也沒有詞意，而what則要在從句中充當一定成分，而且也有詞意。本句is前的主語從句，句意完整，只需要引導主語從句的一個引導詞，因而要用that。
