一、單元分析( unit analysis)
(一) 單元地位 （ unit position）
本單元的課文首先通過人生在成長過程中的得與失，向學生展示了一個真實的人生面貌，從而讓學生明白，人生是一個矛盾綜合體，因此我們應該懂得什么時候該把握住，什么時候該放棄。而解決這個問題的辦法就是追求更加廣闊的視野，棄小我，成就大我，不過多地追求物質財富，應該追求智慧和精神財富，才能使自己的人生變得更加有意義。圍繞這個主題，教師可以設計活動組織學生討論，了解成長過程中我們會得到什么與失去什么，理解生活的真諦和成長的過程。從而使他們，并在即將步入社會之際，對自己將要成為一個什么樣的人有一個明確的認識，從而樹立起正確的人生觀和人生目標。
在學習課文的同時，教師應創造機會讓學生對一些社會人物的人生和一些行為進行評價，教師提供一些典范人物作為學生的榜樣，從而培養他們的是非觀念和對人生的積極地思考，對人生的意義有一個更加正確的理解。在此基礎上，讓學生描述“ 我想成為一個什么樣的人”。
本單元的語法主要是復習不定式，使學生對不定式有一個全面的了解，在掌握不定式的形式和不定式的功能的同時，教師應該提供更多的機會讓學生運用。
additional reading 是一則非常貼近學生生活的成長故事。應該讓學生學會欣賞文章的語言，學習對故事的敘述。鼓勵讓學生集體活動，互相分享自己的成長故事和經歷，

(二) 單元目標(unit target)
1. 理解人生的真諦，樹立正確的人生目標。
2.全面掌握動詞不定式的用法，并能在實際中正確熟練地運用。
3.練習閱讀技巧，并學習欣賞散文式的文章。
4. 能對一些社會人物和現象進行評價， 學習友善地表達自己的反對意見；能比較流暢的敘述自己的故事和經歷。
