后跟動名詞作賓語的動詞很多，可用下列方式記憶：
避免 錯過 少延期(avoid miss put off/postpone)

逃避 冒險 莫原諒(escape risk excuse)

2 manage vt.& vi. 做成(某事)；管理；經營

(1)vt.經營，管理
①(牛津p1226)don’t tell me how to manage my affairs.
用不著你來告訴我怎樣管我自己的事。
②it is not easy to manage such a large hotel.
管理這么一家大旅館可不容易。
(2)vi.& vt.設法做好，想辦法得到，常與can，could，be able to連用。
③but for your help，they couldn’t have managed it.
沒有你們的幫助，他們是干不成的。
④(牛津p1226)in spite of his disappointment，he managed a weak smile.
盡管他很失望 ，他還是勉強露出一絲淡淡的微笑。

(1)manage to do sth.意為“設法完成”，表示經過努力達到了目的。

(2)try to do sth.表示“盡力去做某事”，不包含是否成功的意思。

他盡量在沒有什么幫助的情況下完成工作。(不知完成與否)
