狀語 i stayed there to see what would happen.我留在那兒看看會發生什么事。
補語 they all felt the plan to be unwise.他們都覺得那個計劃是不明智的。
注意：不定式結構作定語時，要放在被修飾語的后面作后置定語。它與被修飾語之間可以是主謂關系，也可以是動賓關系。如：
the next train to arrive was from new york.
下一列進站的火車是從紐約開來的。（主謂關系）
he has too many things to do.
他有太多的事要做。（動賓關系）
要特別注意的是，動賓關系時，不定式中的動詞若是不及物的，要記得加介詞。如：
give me some paper to write on and a pen to write with.
給我一些寫字用的紙和筆。
疑問詞接不定式的形式：
he asked me where he could find a dictionary.
他問我哪兒能找到本字典。
這個句子中有一個作賓語的名詞性從句，而且從句中的主語和主句的主語是同一個，這樣的話，就可以將其簡化為he asked me where to find a dictionary.

不定式的否定形式是在to前加not：
