effect 指“實現”、“達成”，著重“造成”一種特殊的效果, 如：
this book effected a change in my opinion.

influence 指“通過說服、舉例等對行動、思想、性格等產生不易覺察到的,潛移默化的影響”, 如：
influenced by a high-school biology teacher, he took up the study of medicine.
在一位中學生物教師的影響下, 他從事醫學研究。
5. journey trip tour voyage excursion expedition
都含“旅行”的意思。
journey 應用范圍很廣, 指“有預定地點的陸上、水上或空中的單程長、短途旅行”，一般來說，它著重指“長距離的陸上的旅行”，如：
he decided to make a journey to new york by air.
他決定乘飛機去紐約。
trip 為一般用語, 指“任何方式的，從事業務或游覽的旅行”，往往著重于“短途旅行”，在口語中, 可與journey 互換，如：
he made a trip to the great wall yesterday.
昨天他游覽了長城。
tour 指“以游覽、視察、購物等為目的的旅行”，常含有“最后回到原出發點”的意思，如：
he is going to make a round-the-world tour.
他要周游全球。
voyage 主要指“乘船作水上旅行”，也可指“空中旅行”，如：
he got seasick during the voyage.
在航行中他暈船。
excursion 指“娛樂性的短途旅行”，如：
she went on excursion to the west lake.
她到西湖去游玩了。
expedition指“有特定目的的遠征或探險”，如：
they're going to make an expedition to the south pole.他們要去南極探險。
6. fit suitable proper appropriate
都含“適合的”、“適當的”意思。
fit系常用詞, 指 “能適合某些條件、環境、目的或要求的”，有“吻合的”含義，如：
the dress is not fit to wear. 這衣服不適合穿。
suitable指“符合某時或某一環境下的要求或需要的”，如：
the shoes are suitable to travel. 這鞋適用于旅行。
proper指“正當的”、“正確的”，如：
fill in the blanks with proper words.用適當的詞填空。
appropriate指“恰如其分的”，比fit和suitable 有更強的正面意義，如：
his quotation from shakespeare is appropriate.
他引用莎士比亞的話是恰如其分的。
