the door, although supposed to be open, is now locked. 門,本應該開著,現在卻關著。
我們本來應該八點鐘到達這里,而我們卻遲到了。
we were supposed to be here at eight, but we are late.
you are not supposed to smoke on the bus. 你不可以在公共汽車上抽煙。
不定式有時用進行形式或完成形式:
she was supposed to be reading at home, but her mother found her in the park. 她本來應該在家里讀書的,可是她媽媽卻發現她在公園。
