step2: revision
help students to revise what has been learnt in period one of this module. show them some pictures about shanghai and hong kong.
eg: t: which city is it?
ss: it’s shanghai.
t: can you say sth about it? 
ss: shanghai is a big city. the bund is 1.5 kilometres long.…
t: which city is hotter, shanghai or hong kong?
ss: hong kong is hotter than shanghai.
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖]用此方式來(lái)復(fù)習(xí)上課學(xué)過(guò)計(jì)量的表示法及形容詞的比較級(jí)知識(shí)，為本課學(xué)習(xí)做好鋪墊。
step3: presentation
1.show a map of china. let ss talk about other cities in china with key phrases (in the north of…,in the east of…,in the west of…,…).
eg. t: where is dalian?
        ss: it’s in the east of china.
t：ask students in pairs to ask and answer like this.
2.show a map of england.
t: do you know the cities of england?
ss: yes. it’s manchester. it’s cambridge. it’s bristol. it’s london.
  let ss make a short dialogue in pairs.
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖] 通過(guò)看中國(guó)地圖和英格蘭地圖，使學(xué)生靈活掌握四個(gè)方位詞的表達(dá)方法,突破本課難點(diǎn)。同時(shí)為課文掃清地名讀音障礙。
3.show a map of china to teach some key phrases 。
 eg. (1)the capital of: t: what’s the capital of china?
ss: beijing is the capital of china.
                           t: shenyang is the capital of liaoning. guess the meaning of capital.
                           t: what’s the capital of the uk? what about the usa?
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖]讓學(xué)生在一定的語(yǔ)境中掌握capital的兩個(gè)意思。通過(guò)各個(gè)國(guó)家
首都的問(wèn)答，激發(fā)學(xué)生的興趣，擴(kuò)充學(xué)生的知識(shí)。
     (2)be famous for: t: what’s dalian famous for?
                    ss: dalian is famous for football. …
     (3) a region of: dalian is a region of liaoning. …
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖] 通過(guò)此時(shí)創(chuàng)造的語(yǔ)境來(lái)呈現(xiàn)這單元里出現(xiàn)的新單詞和重要詞
組。以情景來(lái)引導(dǎo)學(xué)生掌握好新單詞和詞組，使學(xué)生印象深刻，容易掌握，
同時(shí)為學(xué)生聽(tīng)課文并進(jìn)一步理解課文打下一定基礎(chǔ)。
4.show some pictures to introduce some famous places in london or in cambridge.
eg. t: in london, what famous places do you know?
ss: we can see big ben, tower bridge,…
[設(shè)計(jì)意圖]通過(guò)圖片展示，讓學(xué)生先理解課文中將要介紹的london和 cambridge的名勝地方，激發(fā)學(xué)生的求知欲。同時(shí)也掃除學(xué)生聽(tīng)力中地名讀音的障礙。
