教學目標：
1.能夠聽、說、讀、寫：birthday,date,when,october,august,as，when’s your birthday? 及其應答。
2.能夠聽、說、讀：what would you like as a birthday present? i’d like…, a vcd of japanese cartoons, let’s wait and see.
3.初步能夠用英語表達日期，談論生日。
4.引導學生體會，了解英語國家人們過生日是的風俗習慣，培養(yǎng)學生跨文化交際能力。
教學重難點：
1.教學重點: 四會birthday,date,when,october,august,as，when’s your birthday? 及其應答。
2.教學難點:日期的英語表達方式
教學過程：
導入設計：
free talk：what day is it today? what’s the weather like today?通過一些簡單的英語日常用語，使學生盡快進入學習狀態(tài)。what’s the date today?引出日期表達方式，進入新課呈現部分。
新課呈現分兩部分：
1.利用ppt課件，呈現本單元句型what date is it today?及其回答，使學生了解英文日期的兩種表達方式。接著通過音樂，圖片，錄像，flash動畫等直觀方式，使學生對12月份英文名稱有一個初步的了解。出示日歷(calendar)引導學生自主找出表達日期的序數詞的書寫規(guī)律。逐步啟發(fā)學生讀，寫英文日期表達方式。 在學生掌握了以上規(guī)律之后，再做少許提示，讓學生猜教師的生日日期，引出問題when’s your birthday? 及回答it’s on the … of… 進行操練。當然此環(huán)節(jié)生詞較多，特別是月份的讀法對于部分學生很難一下子掌握，考慮到本單元的b部分會集中鞏固月份的名稱與序數詞的拼法，所以本課時此處設計僅要求學生理解即可。甚至在給出月份名稱的前提下，學生能夠更容易寫出而不是說出日期的英文表達方式。
2. 教師利用自己的生日，通過圖片教授have a birthday party, birthday cake and birthday presents.等相關詞匯。然后出示課文圖片，請學生描述，之后看video
進行對話教學。本課對話篇幅較長，所以設計了分三段呈現，要求學生帶著問題和任務有目的觀看video。
a.本段引言部分，就場景提問
i. where are jim and ben?
ii. what are jim and ben talking about?
b. 談論雙方生日，就具體日期提問
i. what date is it today ?
ii. when is ben’s birthday ?
iii. when is jim’s birthday ?
c. 談論ben的生日禮物，就禮物名稱提問
what would ben like as a birthday present?
引導學生朗讀課文，完整的感知全文，學習對話。能根據提示，復述課文的主要內容，結束討論ben的生日，進入鞏固操練環(huán)節(jié)。
鞏固操練：
將本課內容與學生的生活實際相結合，通過提問do you usually have a birthday party? where do you have your birthday party? what would you like as a birthday present?，讓學生對自己的生日做出設計。然后分組交流各自的設計。
課后作業(yè)：
1.聽讀本單元對話部分，模仿正確的語音語調，培養(yǎng)語感。
2.復習鞏固英文日期的表達方式。
3.拓展閱讀，“生日的另一種解讀”完成練習。
birthdays are very special for some people, but some people don’t want to talk about birthdays. the reason(原因) is that birthdays and ages are very closed related(關系密切的).most women are sensitive(敏感的)about their ages, and many men are, too. in most countries it’s ok to ask,” when’s your birthday?” but in some countries, especially(特別)in western countries(西方國家)，it’s not polite to ask someone how old he or she is. so you should never ask an american or british woman the question “how old are you?”
