             但是愛因斯坦堅持他的理論，繼續從事他的研究。注意：stick to中的to是介詞，后跟名詞，名詞性從句或代詞，不能跟動詞，也不跟動名詞，即使表示“堅持干某事之意”。如：stick to one’s plans堅持方案, stick to one’s promise堅守諾言, stick to it不停地努力,i stick to what i said yesterday.我仍然堅持我昨天的話。而insist on多用于“堅持意見、看法、主張。后常接動詞的-ing形式：eg. i insist on telling him how great you are.    我一定要告訴他你是多么的了不起。[點撥]come across譯為“偶然遇到”“偶然發現”eg. i come across her in paris.            我在巴黎偶然遇到了她。    come構成的短語有：come about發生  come at襲擊        come into being產生  come back to life復活        come back回來，想起  come out出版，印刷  come up出現，發芽i have been studying english for so long now.到現在我已經學了很久的英語了。[點撥]have been doing 為現在完成進行時，表示動作從過去開始一直持續到現在，有可能繼續延續下去或動作剛剛停止。    eg.1. all these years they have been fighting heroically for independence.             這些年來他們一直為獨立而英勇戰斗。eg.2. they have been making oiled paper umbrellas for more than 400 years.         他們制造油紙雨傘已經有四百多年的歷史了。 …… but now i feel as if i’m not making any progress.可是現在我感覺好象沒有進展。    [點撥]as if/though 意為“就像……似的，就仿佛……似的”連詞詞性，引導的從句中，謂語常用虛擬語氣。eg.1. i remember the whole thing as if it happened yesterday.          我記得事情的全部經過就像發生在昨天一樣。eg.2. as if i cared! 我才不在乎呢！   當從句中的主語和主句中的主語一致，從句謂語中又包含動詞be時，這個主語和動詞be省略。eg.1. from time to time, john turned around as if(he was)searching something.          約翰不時的轉過身來仿佛在找什么東西。eg.2. he paused, as if to let the painful memories pass.          他頓了頓，像要避開那些痛苦的回憶。 [點撥]make progress意為“前進、進展、取得進步、（病情）有好轉”，progress為不可數名詞。eg.1. jane is still in hospital, but she is making progress.              簡仍在醫院里，但她的病情正有所好轉。
