本單元為人教版《高中英語》（nsec）必修模塊3unit 1. festivals around the world.本單元的中心話題是“談論世界各地的節(jié)日”，該閱讀課reading: a pioneer for all people。是本單元第一課時，內(nèi)容涉及到各國的節(jié)日名稱，時間，方式和原因，使學生了解不同國家的文化和風俗。
文章以獨立的內(nèi)容塊進行敘述。文章的結構特點是平行并列。
針對文章內(nèi)容和結構的特點，本課以培養(yǎng)學生閱讀比較信息和歸納信息的能力為主，分別將獲取的信息通過列表比較，圖片匹配，問答游戲等方式，進行比較，使學生找到各國節(jié)日慶祝方式的相同和不同之處，歸納總結各國節(jié)日產(chǎn)生的原因，推理出人們到對節(jié)日的態(tài)度，探究到節(jié)日是人類對生活懷有美好祝福的心理，是生命的傳承實踐，從而提高學生跨文化交際的能力和意識。
教學目標
知識與技能目標：
the students will be able to
1. identify the different festivals by comparing the information about celebrations.
2. explain the reason why the festivals come into being by finding out the similarities and differences.
3. describe their favorite festivals by using the language from the text.
教學重點和難點
1）為全體學生進行有效性閱讀策略的指導，包括語篇分析、猜測詞義，邏輯推理、歸納概括等技巧。
2）通過比較信息，歸納總結各國節(jié)日產(chǎn)生的原因，推理出人們到對節(jié)日的態(tài)度和節(jié)日的意義。
