i.words and expressions:
1. 1. make a bet意為“打賭”。表示“就……打賭”用make a bet on…；表示“同……打賭”用make a bet with…。如：
have you ever made a bet with a friend? (p17)
we made a bet on the football match between class two and class three.
bet還可以作不及物動詞，表示“打賭”。在口語中i bet… = i am certain…我肯定。如：
mr smith spent most of his money betting on horses.
i bet he will win the first prize in the english competition.
2. scene n.
eg: we missed the first few scenes of the film.. 鏡頭，場景
he added a new scene at the beginning. (戲劇)一場
the night scene in shanghai is quite beautiful. 景色，風(fēng)景
it’s a happy scene of children playing in the garden. 場面
they rushed to the scene of the traffic accident. 現(xiàn)場
3. permit v. & n. permission n. 允許，許可
1) vt. 許可，允許，準許 ,是及物動詞，后接名詞或代詞；接動詞時要用動詞-ing形式，即permit doing sth；但其后接復(fù)合賓語時，要用permit sb to do sth，表示“允許某人做某事”。如：
eg: we never permit this thing.
he doesn’t permit smoking in the office, so you’re not permitted to smoke here.
we don’t permit anyone to make noise in the hospital.
2) vi.—to make sth. possible
eg: i’ll visit him tomorrow if time permits.
weather permitting (= if the weather permits), we’ll go camping.
3) n. 通行證，許可證，執(zhí)照
eg: have you got a work permit?
you can’t park there without a permit.
4) permission是其名詞形式，with / without sb’s permission = with / without the permission of sb表示“經(jīng)過 / 未經(jīng)某人允許”。如：
when the police asked him why he had a gun, he took out a permit to hunt.
with the teacher’s permission, she went home earlier than usual.
4. go ahead
eg: despite the bad weather, the journey will go ahead. 進行。舉行
the building of the new bridge will go ahead as planned.
