ask the students to complete let’s do it to use the phone call expressions they have learned above.
t: now, you are very clear about how to make a phone call in english. now make up a dialogue with your partners. act out a phone conversation between two friends. one is in china; the other one is in america. try to use the expressions in this lesson. use your rich imagination; you can create any situation you’d like.
give the students enough time to make up their dialogues and later ask some of them to act out their dialogues.
sample dialogue:
s1: hello, may i speak to mary.
s2: this is mary speaking. is that you, li hua?
s1: yes, this is.
s2: i am glad to hear your voice. how are you?
s1: i am fine! i miss you very much. i want to tell you good news. i got an a in the english test.
s2: you are great! i am very happy to hear that. congratulations!
s1: thank you very much. you helped me a lot in my english study.
s2: don’t forget: we are good friends. a friend in need is a friend indeed.
t: well done! let’s give them a big hand!
