22. anywhere we go, we pan hear the ringing of a cell- phone.我們無論到哪里，都能聽到手機的鈴聲。(p.62第一段第二行)
▲ anywhere是副詞，意為“無論何地”，此處用來引導(dǎo)地點狀語從句，相當于一個連詞，意思和wherever或no matter where相近。① i'll take you anywhere you like.我將帶你到你喜歡的任何地方。② anywhere you go, it is all the same.無論你到什么地方都一樣。③ you can camp anywhere you like these days.如今你可以喜歡在哪兒宿營就在哪兒宿營。④ anywhere i go, i find the same thing.不管我走到哪里，我都發(fā)現(xiàn)同樣的情況。
【注】在英語中，副詞起到連詞的作用，用來引導(dǎo)狀語從句很常見。如：directly，instantly，immediately等。如：① i came immediately you called. 你一來電話我就來了。② directly he said those words, there was a dead silence.他剛說完這些話，大家就立刻沉默下來。③ the machine will start instantly you press the button.你一按電鈕，機器就會開動。④ i knew something was wrong immediately i arrived. 我一到就知道出事了。⑤ we came directly we got your telephone.我們一接到你的電話就來了。⑥ instantly i saw him, i knew he was the man the police were looking for.我一看見他就知道他正是警察在尋找的男子。
【注】the moment，the minute，the instant和the second等名詞也可以這樣用。如：① telephone me the instant you get the results.你一得到結(jié)果就給我打電話。② i recognized her the minute i saw her. 我一看見她就把她認出來了。③ he liked the painting the instant he saw it.他一看見這幅畫，就喜歡上它了。④ the moment i came into the room, i found the old man lying on the floor, panting. 我一進屋子，就發(fā)現(xiàn)那老人躺在地上，氣喘吁吁的。

(1) adj. 相似的(常作表語和主語) the products of these two factories are similar. 這兩家工廠的產(chǎn)品很相似。we have similar opinions. 我們都有類似的意見。
(2) 用法上，be similar后接介詞to，英語不跟with your situation is similar to mine.你的處境與我的相似。
(【注】similar的反義詞是different，其后跟介詞from。如：① this is a different girl from the one he used to go out with.這個姑娘不是他過去交往的那個姑娘。② i couldn't help being different from when i left school.我與當年離開校園時的我判若兩人，這是不可避免的。
【注】請注意similar與same的區(qū)別，英語前者表示“大致相同”“十分相像”，而后者則意為“完全一樣”“沒有變化”。如：① we've still got the same problem as we had before.我們現(xiàn)在和過去一樣存在同一個問題。② the two cars ate similar in appearance, but the new one is more brightly coloured. 這兩部車看起來差不多，但那部新的顏色更亮些。
