he is hardly late. i will forgive him by no means.
= hardly is he late. = by no means will i forgive him.
35. only詞組放句首的倒裝句
only ….. + 助v + s + v …..
be + s ….
* 我們只有靠著努力工作才能成功。
we can succeed only by working hard.
= only by working hard can we succeed.
36. 地方副詞放句首的倒裝句
地方副詞 + v + s(名詞)
v需為不及物動詞
s(代名詞) + v
* 乞丐在大門口等。 * 她坐在柜臺后面。
the beggar waited at the gate. she sat behind the counter.
= at the gate waited the beggar. = behind the counter she sat.
36. 主詞補詞放句首的倒裝句
主詞補詞 + v + s v需為不及物動詞(所以后面才有主詞補語)
* 我的生活很空虛。 my life is empty.= empty is my life.

so(也) 的倒裝句
so + 助v + s …也是。 so + s + 助v …的確…。
be be
= s + 助v , too = yes, s + 助v
be be
* 你年輕，我也是。 *a：聽說你做得很好。 b：的確是。
you are young, and so am i. a: i hear you did a good job. b: so we did.
= you are young, and i am, too. = a: i hear you did a good job. b: yes, we did.
