1. desire n. v.渴望;欲望 同義詞: want; wish desirable adj.值得要的;令人滿意的
my greatest desire is to go back home.
the people expressed their desire that the war should come to an end soon.

拓展:have a desire for sth. 渴望……
have a desire to do sth.渴望干……
at one’s desire 應(yīng)某人的要求

2. accompany vt.陪伴;伴奏

3. declare vt.宣布;聲明;宣稱 declaration n.宣布;宣言 declarer 宣告者
同義:announce
after a four-year war, peace was declared at last.經(jīng)過四年的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng),終于宣告了和平。
the customs asked me if i had anything to declare.
he declared that he was innocent.
拓展:
declare oneself 發(fā)表意見;表明態(tài)度
declare war on/against對(duì)……宣戰(zhàn)
declare for sb.聲明支持某人

4. 區(qū)別:event affair matter thing business
event指具有重要性的大事 eg. the main event of XX年的主要大事
affair 表示“事件”時(shí),常與某人、某事或某地有關(guān) eg. the water affair水門事件 表示“公共事務(wù);政治事務(wù);個(gè)人的事” eg. world affairs 世界事務(wù)
matter指“事情,問題”eg. private matter私事
thing 既表示抽象概念,又可指具體的行為、做法、困難等eg. a difficult thing to do難做的事
business 主要指(需要處理或討論的)重要事情,要點(diǎn) eg. the main business of the meeting會(huì)議的主要議題
注:business, affair, thing還可與形容詞連用,表示“事情;事件;狀況”
e. g. i found the whole business/ affair/ thing very pleasing.
