appropriate[e5preuprient] adj.適當(dāng)?shù)�，合適的：it’s not an appropriate example. 那不是一個合適的例子。/ his remarks were appropriate to [for] the occasion. 他的話應(yīng)景適時。
【用法】后接 that從句時，從句謂語通常要用“(should)+動詞原形”：it is appropriate that he (should) be present. 他應(yīng)到場才對。
approval[e5pru:vl] n.1.[u]贊成，同意：he showed his approval by smiling. 他用微笑表示贊成。2.[u]批準(zhǔn)，認(rèn)可：the mayor gave approval to the plan. 市長批準(zhǔn)了這個計劃。
approve[e5pru:v] v.1.贊成，贊同：i approve of your choice. 我贊成你的選擇。/ i don’t approve of smoking. 我不贊成抽煙。2.批準(zhǔn)，認(rèn)可：he approved the building plans. 他批準(zhǔn)了建筑計劃。
【用法】1.表示“贊成”、“同意”時，通常不及物，若后接賓語，通常要借助介詞of(偶爾也用作及物動詞，省略介詞of，但在現(xiàn)代英語中已很少見)。2.表示“批準(zhǔn)”時，總是及物動詞，后跟賓語時無需任何介詞。3.不要按漢語的“贊成某人做某事”而說 approve sb to do sth，因為它是不及物動詞，不能直接跟sb作賓語，可改說 approve of sb’s doing sth：i do not approve of your going out with him. 我不贊成你同他一起出去。
approximately[e5prrksimetli] adv.大體，大致，大約：it cost approximately five million dollars. 大約花了500萬美元。
【說明】用法與 about 相似，但比 about 更正式。
