性物主代詞。故上面結構中landlord也可用landlord’s。

注意  作主語的v.-ing形式，其邏輯主語用名詞所有格或形容詞性物主代詞，而不可用名詞或人稱代詞主格。
翻譯句子   他父親生病使他很著急。
16. each time it seemed there’d be one more of us.每次都好像還要再搬一次似的。
句式分析   it seemed (that)...看起來似乎，是一固定句型，在本句中省略了that。
seem構成的常用句型：
（1）it + seems + that+從句
   it seems to me that there is something funny about the case.
（2）it seems as if...
   at that time, it seemed as if i couldn’t think of the right word anyhow.
（3）there seems (to be)...
   there doesn’t seem to be much hope that he’ll come/of him coming.

句式分析
out back is a small garage for the car...此處是一個完全倒裝句。全部倒裝是指將句子中的謂語動詞全部置于主語之前。此結構通常只用與一般現在時和一般過去時。常見的結構有：
（1）here, there, now, then, thus等副詞置于句首時,謂語動詞常用be, come, go, lie, run, live等。
（2）表示運動方向的副詞或地點狀語置于句首時，謂語常用表示運動的動詞。
under the tree sat an old man.
long long ago there lived a king who loved money very much.
翻譯句子  桌子底下躺著一只貓。
