i. words and expressions
1. full of (fun) 充滿（樂趣）
after the storm, the holes in the road were full of rainwater. 那場暴風雨過后，路上的地凹處積滿了雨水。
2. go to sleep 入睡
i couldn’t go to sleep until very late last night. 我昨夜到很晚才睡著。
3. make sb think of …使用權某人想起某物， make 后跟省略to 的不定式。
this plant makes me think of my hometown. 這種植物使用權我想起自己的故鄉。
4. a little stronger 強一點兒 a little 修飾比較級stronger,表示程度。
blow a lot（風）喬得厲害， a lot 修飾blow,表示程度。
ii. language structure
1. it is +adj. + to do sth 表示做某事感覺如何
it is nice to see plants start growing in spring. 看到植物在春天里生長真好。
it 是形式主語，真正的主語是; to see plants start growing.
2. either…or
it could either be picture 4 or picture 11.可能是第四幅畫，也可能是第十一幅畫。
either…or…或者……或者……，連接兩個句法成分相同的部分，表示兩者之間的選擇
3. prefer…to 比起……更
i prefer picture 11 to picture 4 比起第四幅畫來，我更偏愛第十一幅畫。
prefer a to b ,相當于like a better than b。a, b為兩個相當的名詞或動詞-ing形式。
i prefer fresh chicken wings to frozen ones. 比起冷凍的雞翅來我更喜歡新鮮的。
i prefer playing tennis to skating. 比起溜冰來我更喜歡打網球。
4. 連系動詞get ,become
the weather starts getting warm. some leaves become brown, red or yellow, get, become都是聯系動詞，表示“變得”，后面可以跟形容詞作表語。
danny is getting fat. 丹尼在變胖。
the wind became stronger. 風變得更強了。
5. not until 直到……才……
they will not wake up until spring comes. 直到春天到來，它們才醒來。
這里until 是連詞，引導時間狀語從句。若要描述的事件尚未發生，主句用一般將來時，從句則用一般現在時表示一般將來。如：
i will not leave until you come back. 直到你回來，我才會離開。
6. start doing sth 開始做某事，也可說start to do sth.
i started learning/to learn french when i was ten. 我十歲時開始學法語。
