then collect the cards into three groups. let each student choose one card from each group to put them up on the bb. he or she answers other ss’ qs with the words he or she has chosen.
for example, a student gets the following:
i, read books, children’s day
other ss will ask: what do you want to do on children’s day?
the student’s sentence will be: i read books on children’s day.
if a student gets the following:
kim, fly a kite, international workers’ day.
other ss will ask: what does kim want to do on international workers’ day?
the student’s sentence will be: kim wants to fly a kite on international workers’ day.
step v listening & discussing
let ss do some listening practice with the target language.
t: now you will hear a short dialogue among ms. liu, li ming and danny. please listen carefully and then answer my qs:
1. what day is it?
2. when is the spring festival?
3. what does danny want to do during the spring festival? (explain it to the class.)
4. what’s danny’s favorite food?
ss can listen to the dialogue twice. they can write the key words according to the qs while listening.
play the audiotape. after listening, check ss’ answers.
suggested answers:
1. it’s thursday, october 29th.
2. january 29th is the spring festival.
3. he wants to go the restaurant and eat french fries, hamburgers, donuts…
4. donuts are his favorite food.
then discuss in groups:
what is western food?
what is chinese food?
