活動目的：通過教材為學生設計的任務，引導學生在完成任務的時候，積極的運用所學的語言，表達自己的思想，完成任務。同時這個練習，為學生提供了規范的語言表達方法，使學生在練習過程中能夠掌握句型，并且能夠進一步復習所學單詞短語。小組合作的練習方式，一方面提供了學生取長補短的機會，同時培養了學生的合作意識。
活動五：試一試：
教學參考時間：2-3分鐘
教師用課件出示let’s try三幅圖片。
引導學生就圖片內容提問：who are they？
what are they doing？
請幾位同學就畫面進行描述。
此時教師可以就畫面提問，引出本課的重點句型：are they …？引導學生用yes，they are. / no, they aren’t.進行回答。
教師通過提問，引出classmates一詞。eg：are they watching their classmates？
教師板書單詞，學生跟讀。教師可引導學生：classmates是一個復合詞，由class和mates組成，便于學生記憶。
教師播放let’s try錄音，學生聽錄音，選擇。
教師再次播放錄音，訂正答案。如果學生能力能夠達到，可以讓學生進行原文重復。
活動目的： 教師應注意引導學生在聽錄音之前一定要養成讀圖的習慣。要先自己看圖，看看畫面中主要告訴了我們什么信息，并根據三幅畫面推測將要聽到的內容與什么有關。這樣在聽錄音的時候，就能夠有的放矢了，成功率就會大大提高。
活動六：說一說：
教學參考時間：8-10分鐘
課前，教師在黑板上貼好四至五組人物圖片如：mike and wu yifan，sarah and amy，教師提問：who are they？，讓學生回答：they are…。
教師把catching butterflies的單詞短語卡片面朝下貼在第一組人物的下面，說：guess， what are they doing？引導學生用are they…？猜。
教師把不同的單詞短語的卡片面朝下分別貼在每組人物的下面，繼續游戲。
請兩名學生上臺，一起做一個動作，教師問：are they catching butterflies？教師引導其他學生根據看到的動作判斷，如果對，就回答：yes，they are. 否則，就回答： no, they aren’t.需要注意的是，這里要選取容易做動作表現的短語。
學生理解游戲規則后，再請兩名學生作一個動作，請學生試著來猜：are they…？其他學生判斷：yes， they are./ no, they aren’t.
教師在黑板上畫一棵樹，問：what is it？引導學生回答： it is a tree.
然后，教師再畫一些樹并介紹說： what is it now? it is a woods.
教師板書woods，學生跟讀單詞。
教師在小樹林里畫兩個人，問：where are they?引導學生回答： they are in the woods.
學生學說句子：where are they? they are in the woods.
教師根據對話提出幾個問題：
what is john doing？
where are the students？
are they catching butterflies？
