operation作名詞，意為“手術”。perform / do an operation on sb. 意為“給…做手術”。
e.g. 他剛剛給一個病人做手術了。 he ______ ______ ______ ______ a patient just now.
operate作動詞，意為“做手術”。operate on sb. / operate sb. on … 意為“給…做手術”。
e.g. 1) 劉大夫已經給這個嬰兒做過手術了。dr. liu ______ ______ ______ the baby already.
2) 他正在給女孩的左腿做手術。he ______ ______ the girl ______ her left leg.
4、… that they can’t afford to travel to hospital.
afford作動詞，意為“買得起”，“能做”。常與can, could, be able to連用。
多用于否定句或疑問句。常用句型：afford sth. / afford to do sth.
e.g. 1) 我們能買得起新車嗎？can we ______ a new car?
= can we ______ ______ ______ a new car?
2) 我們買不起新房子。 we ______ ______ a new house.
= we don’t have ______ ______ ______ ______ a new house.

proud作形容詞，意為“驕傲的”，“自豪的”。名詞為pride。
be proud to do sth. / be proud of sth. / doing sth. 意為“對…感到驕傲”，“為…而自豪”。
e.g. 1) 你是我們學校的驕傲。我們以你為豪。
you are the ________ of our school. we ________ ________ ________ you.
2) 我對被選為我班的班長感到很驕傲。

6、all we need is enough money to carry on with our work.
carry on with sth. / carry on doing sth. 意為“繼續開展”，“繼續進行下去”。
相當于go on with sth. / go on doing sth. / continue doing sth.。
e.g. 1) 醫生叫我繼續治療。the doctor told me to ______ ______ ______ the treatment.
2) 他們繼續給病人做手術。they ______ ______ ______ on the patient.
注：we need作定語從句修飾all。all we need = what we need。
