alcoholic[7alke5hrlik] adj.含酒精的：an alcoholic drink 含酒精的飲料 n.[c]嗜酒者，酗酒者，酒鬼：he is really an alcoholic. 他是一個十足的酒鬼。

alike[e5laik] adj.相似的，相同的：the two sisters are very alike. 兩姐妹非常相像。adv.同樣地，相同地：they dress and walk alike. 他們的穿著和走路姿態十分相似。
【說明】1.用作形容詞時，為表語形容詞，不能置于名詞前作定語。2.許多以 a- 開頭的表語形容詞(如 asleep, awake, alone 等)不能受very 修飾，但 alike 是例外，它不僅可受 much, very much的修飾，也可受 very 的修飾(類似地還有 very afraid, very ashamed 等)。

【說明】通常不用 very 修飾，但可用 much 或 very much 修飾。
【辨析】alive, living與 live：alive 不用于名詞前作定語(但可用于名詞后作后置定語，如 the greatest man alive 當今偉人)，主要用于人和動物；living 可用作表語或定語，可用于人或物；live 表示“活的”，主要用于動物和植物，且主要用作前置定語：live fish (tree) 活魚(樹)
