  二、教學內容:9a unit 6 detective stories

  三、課型: integrated skills

  四、教學目標

  1. 知識目標

  1) 四會單詞:record, prison

  2) 詞組:have no criminal record, be in prison, be involved in

  3) 句型:he seems to be a nice man.

  2.能力目標

  能聽懂有關案件的錄音,提取相關信息,并能就這些信息和同伴交流。

  五、教學重難點

  1. 重點

  幫助學生聽懂并提取案件的相關信息。

  2. 難點

  如何讓學生條理清楚地表達自己對不同嫌疑犯的看法。

  六、教學步驟

  step 1 lead-in

  show the students the picture (on the left) and say “look at the man. his name is guan dawei. he is a rich man. he has lots of money. he is a millionaire. ” invite the students to read the new words.

  tell the students something terrible has occurred and at the same time, show the students another picture. make an brief introduction to the boy like this:

  “look at this picture. this is guan fei, guan dawei’s son.” and then ask the students “what is a happening?” as the students to the answer: a kidnapping, say “the kidnapping occurred! it happened. and guan fei was kidnapped.”

  get the students to think about how guan dawei and guan fei felt by asking them the following questions:

  do you think guan fei was scared? (yes.)

  how did his father feel? (he felt worried)

  ask the students what guan dawei should do then. (call the police.)

  say “yes, he called the police and detective lu came quickly. he has found two suspects. ” show the students the following pictures and introduce some more new words that they may meet in the listening part.

  step 2 read and search for information.

  invite the students to read detective lu’s notes in part a1, page 110 quickly and fill in the blanks with as much information as possible.

  check the information that they can find through reading.

  step 3 listen and complete the profiles

  tell the students that the information is not enough to solve the case. ask them the following questions:

  do you think detective lu should talk to them?

  what kind of questions will he ask?

  (before listening, it is important to get the students ready for the task.)

  play the tape and students complete the profiles while listening.

  check the answers.

  step 4 completing the report

  tell the students that detective lu’s assistant is writing a report on the kidnapping case. however, he didn’t hear everything clearly. invite the students to complete the report for him.

  check the answers.

  step 5 discussion

  divide the students into groups of four to have a discussion on the following questions;

  1 who do you think is guilty? why?

  2 how much money will he/she ask for? and why?

  invite the reporters from several groups to speak out their opinions.

  step 6 speak up

  tell the students detective lu and policeman li are also talking about the suspects.

  invite the students to listen to their dialogue and then answer the following questions.

  does policeman li think wang gang was involved in the case? why?

  get the students to read the dialogue together and then answer the following question:

  why doesn’t policeman li think wang gang is guilty?

  (remind the students there may be several reasons and encourage them to find them all.)

  wang gang seems to be a nice man.

  he was at his sisters wedding at the time of the crime.

  he doesn’t have a criminal record.

  ask the students to open the books and read the dialogue in roles.

  ask them to work in pairs and take turns to read different roles. (they may need this dialogue in making up their own dialogues.)

  step 7 making up a new dialogue

  encourage the students to make up their own dialogues. make it clearly that their can talk about either of the suspects or both of the suspects.

  invite several pairs to act out their dialogues.

  step 8 homework

  a. read the passage on page 111.

  make sure you can read it correctly and fluently.

  b. write down what you think about the two suspects.

  are they guilty? why or why not?

  七、說明

  本節課是第六單元的綜合技能課,側重于對學生聽說能力的培養。過多的生詞將影響聽力理解,所以教師在教學的過程中一定要做一些聽前的鋪墊工作,如:交代清楚背景或情景,教授生詞等等。

  unit 6 detective stories  (1)

  main task:

  write a detective story for a writing competition at your school.

  tasks:

  1. to correctly use the commonly confused verbs:

  ‘bring’ and ‘take’, ‘hear’ and ‘listen’, ‘see’, ‘look’ and ‘watch’, ‘come’ and ‘go’.  正確使用經常混淆的動詞。

  2. use appropriate language to talk about crimes, suspects, innocence and       guilt.    用恰當的語言來談論罪行、嫌疑犯、無辜和有罪。

  二. 重點、難點:

  comic strips

  1. why are you dressed like that, eddie?    你為何打扮成那樣?埃迪?

  dress在這里是動詞,“穿著衣服”。常用于被動語態,be dressed表示某人在某個場合穿著什么衣服。

  eg. they were dressed in the most fashionable clothes. 他們穿著最時髦的衣服。

  he is well dressed.   他穿得很體面。

  dress oneself   自己穿衣服

  dress up   喬裝打扮

  2. this is much more serious.   這要嚴重得多。

  much   得多,修飾比較級。

  3. my food has gone missing.  我的食物不見了。

  missing, 形容詞,“找不到的,不在原處的”,表示目前的狀態。

  eg. have you seen a book with two pages missing? 

  reading

  1. he was last seen leaving his office in new town at about 7p.m.

  他最后被人看見是在晚上7點離開他在新鎮的辦公室。

  last  作為形容詞,表示“最后的,剛過去的”。

  eg. in the last few days, we’ve visited my father’s relatives.

  last 也可做動詞,表示“持續、維持”。

  eg. we have enough water to last five days.

  2. they are not sure whether the victim was killed somewhere else and then brought to valley town, or killed at the place where he was found.  他們不能確定受害者是否在別處被殺死后棄尸于谷鎮,還是在被發現處遇害的。

  whether在句中表示“是否”,有時可以和if交換使用。但whether后面可以跟or not,而if不能。

  eg. i wonder whether they will come or not.   我不知道他們是否會來。

  i wonder if they will come.

  3. we are asking anyone who saw anything unusual last night to contact us.   我們現在請昨晚看見任何異常情況者與我們聯系。

  who saw anything unusual last night是定語從句,主要句子成份是:we are asking anyone to contact us.

  4. detective lu said that the victim was attacked with a knife and bled to death as a result.    盧偵探說遇害者是被刀剌中,因失血過多而死。

  as a result  詞組,“因此,作為結果”。 先交代原因,再用as a result連接結果,可放在句尾,也可放在句子中間。

  eg. it’s raining hard, and as a result we can’t go out.  雨下的很大,因此我們不能出去。

  as a result of…  因為…… ,由于 ……

  we can’t go out as a result of the heavy rain.

  5. the victim obviously put up a good fight.  受害者顯然做了殊死搏斗。

  put up  進行斗爭,進行反抗,常用put up a fight。

  eg. the solders put up a fight against the enemy’s attack.  士兵們奮力抵抗敵人的進攻。

  6. detective lu said that the victim was guilty of computer crimes in the past.  盧偵探說遇害者過去參與過電腦犯罪活動。

  be guilty of   在……方面有罪

  7. he was charged with breaking into several computer systems over the last year.  去年他被指控非法闖入幾家電腦系統。

  charge with …   指控、告發

  eg. the police charged him with murder.   警察指控他謀殺。

  be charged with    是被動語態,被指控……

  charge with   還有“指示、委以某人責任”的意思。

  eg. the teacher charged me with calling the names.    老師委派我點名。

  8. so far, the only suspect is a short, thin man who was seen running down upper street at 10 last night.    到目前為止,唯一的嫌疑人是一個矮、瘦的人,有人看見他昨晚10點沿著阿佩爾街跑。

  so far  到目前為止,常用于現在完成時態中。

  eg. so far we haven’t found the way to solve the problem.

  he has written three letters so far.

  9. the victim’s parents have offered a reward of ¥ 50,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the murderer.   受害者的父母已為任何提供抓捕兇手的線索出五萬酬金。

  lead to   通向,導致……

  eg.  all roads lead to rome.   殊途同歸。

  his hard work led to his great success.   他的努力工作造就了他的成功。

  grammar a

  a:  commonly confused verbs   經常混淆的動詞

  1. bring / take

  ◆bring  “帶來”,是把東西帶到說話者身邊。

  ◆take   “帶走”,是把東西帶離說話者。

  eg.  my mother brought my some new clothes.

  take it away please, i don’t like it.

  2. listen / hear

  ◆listen  表示“聽”,強調“聽”這個動作。是集中注意力主動去聽的。

  ◆hear  表示“聽見”,強調“聽”的內容。可能是被動聽到的。

  eg.  listen to the radio! there’s a beautiful song.  

  i can hear someone speaking.

  ◆hear 一詞一般不用進行時,不說 i’m hearing 或i was hearing, 而用can或could。

  3. come / go

  ◆come表示“來”,指朝向說話者方向移動。

  ◆go表示“去”,是指向離開說話者的方向移動。

  eg.  please come and play with me.

  go and get the ball.

  4. see / look / watch

  ◆see表示“看見”,強調看到的東西。可能不是故意看到的。

  ◆look表示“看”,強調“看”這個動作。是集中注意力主動去看。后面帶賓語時,要加介詞“at”。

  ◆watch表示“觀看”,強調看到事物的變化、移動或發展。也是主動去看。

  eg.   i saw a lovely bird yesterday.   我昨天看到一只可愛的鳥。

  please look at the blackboard!   請看黑板!

  he was watching the football match at 9 o’clock. 他九點時在看足球。
