虛擬語氣
i概念。 虛擬語氣是動詞的一種特殊形式, 用來表達說話人的愿望,意圖,建議,驚奇,設想等未能實現的情況,以及在說話人看來實現可能性很小的情況。
ii. 虛擬語氣的特點:
1、虛擬語氣表達的是與客觀現實相反的觀念。
2、虛擬語氣常由一個表示條件的從句和一個主句構成。
3、由于虛擬語氣中條件從句中的條件是與客觀事實相反, 因此其主句的結論也只能是想象的,非真實的。
4、虛擬語氣的特點決定了它句中動詞形式的使用與真實句中的動詞形式的是不同的。同時,虛擬語氣受時間的制約,分成以下三種句式:
1) 與現在事實相反的虛擬語氣。
2) 與過去事實相反的虛擬語氣
3) 與將來事實相反的虛擬語氣
iii. 在不同時間下,虛擬語氣的三種形式,公式。
i.與現在事實相反 were might if+主語+ 過去式動詞 would 過去式助動詞 , 主語+ could + v should
ii.與過去事實相反 might would + have + 過去分詞if +主語+had +過去分詞, 主語 + could should
iii.與將來事實相反 were might if + 主語+ 過去式助動詞 were to +v 主語+ would + v should + v. could
注:1。 虛擬語氣中助動詞be一律用were,不用was。
2. 在與將來事實相反的虛擬語氣中,“if+主語+should +v+…+表示可能的假設
1.與現在事實相反
1)if i had a car, i should be very happy.
= i should be very happy if i had a car, but i haven’t a car.
2)if i were a bird, i could fly.
= i could fly if i were a bird, but i am not a bird, so i can’t fly.
3)i he took his teacher’s advice, he might pass the exam.
= he might pass the exam if he took his teacher’s advice, but he doesn’t take his teacher’s advice, so he doesn't pass the exam.
4)if it weren’t raining, we should go for a picnic.
= we should go for a picnic if it weren’t raining, but it is raining.

= you could have met that famous film star if you had come ten minutes earlier, but you didn’t come ten minutes earlier, so you didn't see that famous film star.
3) if i had realized the importance of english study, i should have worked much harder.
= i should have worked much harder if i had realized the importance of english study, but i didn’t realize the importance of english study, so i didn't work harder.

注:書面語中,“if”虛擬語氣倒裝形式的使用:
如果“if”從句中含有 “were, had ”或“should ”時, 則可省略連詞“if ”,而把“were, had ” 或“should” 移至主語之前。

3) should it rain tomorrow (= if it should rain tomorrow), she would …
注:
1.某些動詞后賓語從句中的虛擬語氣。
在動詞 suggest, insist, order, command, require, request , demand 等后面的賓語從句中, 動詞形式一般用 “should + 動詞原形,或省略should用動詞原形,用以表示一種建議,勸說, 命令, 要求的語氣。
例:
1) the teacher suggested we (should )finish that task at the end of next week.
2) the officer ordered that the enemy (should ) be surrounded in the village before daylight.
3) his uncle insists that he (should ) go to the most well-known university instead of some common ones.
注意:
1)在it’s suggested /ordered /required/demanded/decided/necessary/important等結構的主語從句中, 或suggestion, order, idea等詞的同位語從句和表語從句中, 也應用should +動詞原形, 或省略should , 以適合于說話人所表示的建議或要求, 命令的語氣。
例:a. it’s suggested that a modern hotel (should) be set up at the front of the hill.
b. the general gave the order that the bridge (should ) be destroyed before 5 o’clock in the morning.
c. it's necessary /important that every party member (should ) take the lead and work well.
2)當suggest的主語不指人, 而是指某一現象時, 同時賓語從句不表示建議, 而是暗示一種情況, 這時賓語從句不用should +動詞原形, 而應根據內容而選擇正確的時態。insist等詞的用法在不表示對未來某一動作的主張和要求時, 也不用should +動詞原形。
例:a. the expression on his face suggested that he was unhappy.
b. she insisted that her answer was right.
